Mar 21, 2012 - There is no remedy: Everyone planning to make a historical movie should be forced to watch Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" first in order to learn that in ancient times people did not behave like the emotional fools of the present and so some minimum of courtesy is required in order to make a historical movie at least a bit authentic; though the movie itself is quite lovely, some kind of homage to the writer and a fancy mixture of her vita and her novels, if only the acting were less modern.
