Jun 26, 2010 - I liked Sam Cooke, but I don't think he had the right type of voice for this type of song. But if you like it well to each his own.

MimzAngie Says:

Jul 23, 2010 - I have gone over this many times the Wind may have had the nameMariah. BUT THE SONG WRITERS WHO WROTE THE SONG FOR "PAINT YOUR WAGAN" NAMED THE SONG "THEY CALL THE WIND MARIA" Why I don't know.

Jan 23, 2011 - The "old" classic spelling for your name is without the h on the end. If you do some deep internet searching you'll find some obscure linguists' discussions about how up until the beginnings of the 20th century, in English speaking countries, it was most common for women's names ending with the "ia" combination to be pronounced with a "long i."

Jan 23, 2011 - if you do some deep Internet searching, you'll find linguists discussing how up until the beginnings of the 20th century, in German and English speaking countries, women's names ending with the "ia" combination were pronounced with a long i (like you pronounce your name). Later, with an influx of Latin and Romance language speaking people, those names dropped their accent over the i and the "ee-uh" pronounciation became more common. "Maria" is the traditional spelling for your name!

Oct 7, 2011 - Harve Presnell deserves to be remembered!. Another american magnificent voice.

nuderobot Says:

Oct 10, 2011 - This is one of my very favorite songs ever! I don't mean any disrespect to Vaughn Monroe's fans, but I don't think this is a great way to do this song. I guess Harve Presnell spoiled me.

markalson1938 Says:

Oct 10, 2011 - Believe it or not this song was never a big hit no matter who sang it. Harve Presnell had a great voice and appearing in the movie with all thoes dramatic sceans how could it not be the best version. But Vaughn had the voice for this and did a great job as did Eddie Fisher. I only wish that Frankie Laine had recorded this in his prime but he did it on an album when he was in his mid eighties. Even at that age he stillhad a voice but just couldn't hit the high notes anymore.

Gaygarious Says:

Oct 20, 2011 - NO!

Gaygarious Says:

Oct 20, 2011 - The song was written for the stage production.... that's the way the name is pronounced in England..... many stage composers worked with the British pronunciations in the early days!

MimzAngie Says:

Oct 22, 2011 - ohh okayyy ..

MimzAngie Says:

Oct 22, 2011 - Relax.. Dont have to get all worked up about it. (:

Dec 29, 2011 - sing it again vaughn, sing it again. A great voice, great song and top of the shelves vidio!

rorkesdrift42 Says:

Jan 5, 2012 - I have to disagree with you. The notion of "big hits," like everything else in the 1950's, was not tied to statistics. Many of us who were teenagers at the time were unaware of the play "Paint Your Wagon." But the Kingston Trio recording of this song was played over and over again at every party or social evening that I attended in 1960 and '61. We thought of it as a big hit.

rorkesdrift42 Says:

Jan 6, 2012 - I should have mentioned that the Kingston Trio version was on the Hungry I album. So far as I know, their version was never released as a single.
