Apr 20, 2012 - I am truly sorry that you have lost your beloved parrot, it is essentially losing a family member. I believe owning a parrot takes a lot of responsibility and initiative, it is also unforunate that we have more info on how to care for dogs than we do parrots that live 50 times longer and require more care. Flying is essential to any parrot's health and well being. But anyone wanting to "try" free-flight NEEDS to RESEARCH! It is a training method, and requires dedication and knowledge.
kawaii2525 Says:
Apr 20, 2012 - To continue, I know a lot of people "take their birds outside" and accidents do happen (personal experience), it is therefore key to train your parrot, and usually it is more difficult to teach an older parrot to free fly, compared to teaching a juvenile to "fledge". There is a lot of problems that come with free flight, but it can be done. Raptors like Eagles and Hawks have been flown for centuries. You wouldn't let your dog off leash without training, why would you do so with your parrot?

Apr 25, 2012 - i know this is an old vid and so sad also. it makes me upset to think how andrew blames himself for losing her all he wanted was to improve the life of a captive bird. i lost my baby twice and cried my heart out both times. first time was for 5 days and the second i got her back on day 3. never again will i let that happen, im so careful now. anyone who loses their bird, believe me they can be returned this is just one sad story that didnt have a happy ending.

Apr 30, 2012 - Omg!! I've been watching you and Tui since I got Smokey about a month ago. I just saw where she flew off!!! My heart breaks for you!! I've only had Smokey for a month and I can't imagine life without him!!! She is a smart bird hopefully she found a safe home !!!! Thank you for this video....Smokey will not go outside unprotected now, and I was considering it. But not now even with clipped wings!!! Peace to you!!!
