May 24, 2012 - I hope you're not referring to The Devil Wears Prada in this regard, they do not use auto-tune. They use minimal pitch correction software in the studio, but I guarantee you that around 95% off the artists you listen to do as well. Pitch correction can be left virtually undetectable believe it or not. I know because I know how to use it, I'm a producer. And guess what? Auto-tune requires a sense of pitch for it to be effective, it's an enjoyable vocal effect, not a cure all for bad vocals.

May 24, 2012 - Oh there's no doubt that some popular music artists are having a negative influence on the younger members of society. I wouldn't say it's the primary factor in making a teen into a delinquent. But it's definitely a factor.

May 24, 2012 - Plenty that do yes, plenty that don't also. I think that the people and the circumstances that a kid grows up around have more of an effect on it's life than music would. Many kids and teens are very ignorant when it comes to lyrics. They just listen because it sounds cool to them. I recall a time when lyrical content meant very little to me. I still appreciated profound lyrics here and there when they were brought to my attention but for the most part I didn't care as long as it sounded cool.

May 24, 2012 - Well I'd say that is part of the reason, sure. Just not the main reason is all. I know plenty of people that avoid music that has negative lyrical content. Then again I've grown up in a very safe area.

What I think is most likely is that teenagers that are already involved in criminal activity will gravitate towards music that is about the activities they participate in. In some cases I'm sure that music had part of the influence to do these things. But to me it seems that in most cases it is the people that have the primary influence. Parents, friends, or the lack there of.
