May 11, 2012 - Innovative? Hardly likely. Sweeping & alternate picked scales are hardly anything new. Sure he's better than Kirk, but he isn't anything special and he CERTAINLY isn't innovative.If you want innovative check out Matthias Eklundh from Freak Kitchen. He plays circles around Synyster.

May 11, 2012 - I like a7x as much as the next guy don't get me wrong, but that is just fucking stupid. throwing in the odd borrowed note into a flurry of alternate picking, unison bends and below average sweep picking arpeggios is not exactly groundbreaking. If syn is innovative to you...maybe you should expand your listening buddy.

May 14, 2012 - @spartftw Yes syn is better. But since when was a very difficult song make a difference? Kirk doesn't sweep as much as syn but he doesn't have to. Metallica got inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame, and not because kirks sweeping or metallicas difficult songs, but because their music had a huge impact and without metallica, alot of bands like a7x probably wouldn't exist. You gotta stop judging just because of a a7x difficult songs,

And on the innovation thing, Haner attended MI to study Jazz and Classical, if you call that non innovative, you are slandering the name of a few artists that could shred Kirk under the James Hetfield, AKA the table.

May 22, 2012 - sure maybe he will be an inspiration, but man, studying jazz and classical has nothing to do with innovation, if he was to incorporate those ideas in a new way into his guitar playing then yes maybe, but plenty guitar players have done it, Hell I am doing the exact same thing right now. Just let the record show however, I do actually prefer syn to kirk. I was just pointing out the other guy was an idiot
