MrDaiseymay Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - Your right--the electric stuff was played by none other than Chet Atkins, who played on many records of that period including Elvis, and he also produced for these stars too. I met Chet in Bristol in the early 90's, a very easy-going laid back guy as you'd expect.
MrDaiseymay Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - Nothing ever compares to original recordings---the boys were in their prime too. Whenever I hear this (one of my alltime favs) I think of the sound coming out of a huge 'Seeburg' jukebox, with colossal bass---in a caff I used to frequent at that time. LOVERLY !!

Feb 10, 2012 - Guitar pickin in America always comes back to Chet Atkins, doesn't it?I never saw Chet, or the Everlys, live, but I went to college in Bristol(I'm guessin you were talkin about the town in Tennessee) and sure heard lots of good guitar there. Not sure any harmony will ever be done better than Don & Phil..... Peter, Paul & Mary gave it a shot, but it was a totally different type of music.

Feb 12, 2012 - Only the Louvin Bros. can sing harmony better than these guys, these singers are in a class all by themselves and their guitar playing style is pure genious.

Mar 4, 2012 - Don't for get Roy
johnnyrebangel Says:
Mar 4, 2012 - Yes, Roy was right at top of my list too. I never saw Beatles or Everlys live, but I saw Roy many times on stage and his voice was the whole show....like an opera singer who decided to do pop songs. He just stood there and sang and never moved around....like a god who suddenly appeared out of the darkness of backstage.

Mar 24, 2012 - Fun to see the Louvin Brothers reference below. I totally agree. There is something special about brothers singing together. This one is absolutely perfect. Only 50 years ago...1962

Mar 25, 2012 - I'm 19 years old. I grew up listening to their songs. beatles. platters. rosemary clooney. the hollies. led zeppelin.I'm glad my grandfather made me listen to these songs. :)
PolarExpress2 Says:
Apr 11, 2012 - This song was written by Carol King in 1960 for these guys. Never realized she wrote "The Locomotion" for Little Eva, "Up on the Roof" for the Drifters, songs for The Monkees and soooo many more hits. Look it up.

Apr 17, 2012 - I'm English, and I was recalling a very rare visit that Chet made to the UK (Bristol City in my case) where there had been a surge in interest in his music--partly it has to be said, resulting from that CD he made with Mark Knopfler (of Dire Straits fame) called 'Neck & Neck'. I attended his open air concert in Bristol City centre by the river Avon. Luckily it was a warm and sunny evening--and the show ? fantastic --what else.

Ambiefyer Says:
Jan 1, 2012 - Hate it when people compare singers /bands with other singers these aren't or weren't the British version of Beatles. Both Beatles and the Everly's have totally different sound. Unlike today's music have of it sounds the same. I prefer to listen to these then the Beatles though Beatles did some good music, but Phil and Don seems to catch my ears more every time i hear there music. Really REALLY annoys me when people compare music to one singer to another, one band to another etc grrr
