KARATESORA Says:

Mar 2, 2010 - Sensei Ohta is probably the most technically perfect karateka I've ever seen and trained with. But I sometimes wonder if his techniques are too clean and crisp. E.g. Sensei Yahara makes many small 'errors' and his technique is nowhere near as perfect as Sensei Ohta's, but the Karatenomichi leader's katas are neverless awesome to watch and somehow more soulful. What do you think?

hiranom20 Says:

Mar 16, 2010 - @KARATESORA I understand what u mean about Yahara sensei. And I agree that Ohta sensei's technique is excellent as well! The question if it's too clean...well that can't be a bad thing can it?? lolol

ShorinRyuRonin Says:

May 5, 2010 - The style is Shotokan and not Shorin Ryu.

ShorinRyuRonin Says:

May 5, 2010 - @Horatio, Did not know any Shotokan had this Kata in it, by the way, mos of Shotokan stems from Shorin style.

dapare00 Says:

Jul 12, 2010 - shotokan is not a style is a school in japan that for some reason became a "style" but in reallity its a shorin school

Jan 17, 2011 - Very very good , great to replay if you're trying to learn or perfect some moves- the best I ever saw was Frank Brennan doing this.... No question! Yahara senseis Unsu is also fantastic. I enjoyed this though. Enoeda sensei was Ohtas senior- to me though there's no comparison , Enoeda was unique!

Yamtendo Says:

Apr 20, 2011 - very nice power focus etc.except it's gojushi ho DAI the SHO form contains the finger poking technique which led FUNAKOSHI to originally call it HOTAKU or woodpecker as the the the technique reminded him of a bird pecking at a tree.

lakayism Says:

Apr 20, 2011 - Nice performance. I like it.

PREVeteranoX Says:

Jul 5, 2011 - Arígatou gozáimas, o Ohta Sensei, thank you very much from Spain for this video, which is very helpful for learning this kata. Sayóunara.

johnbsan Says:

Jul 15, 2011 - This is the JKA version of Gojushiho Sho. The SKIF version is Gojushiho Dai. Kanazawa Kancho changes the names of the forms for SKIF as he believed the bigger movements should be in the kata named Dai and vice versa.

tuhsome Says:

Aug 5, 2011 - Thanks...

ekkenaab Says:

Sep 17, 2011 - this is gojushiho dai?

1000MOSHT Says:

Sep 19, 2011 - Well,in Kanazawa Sensei's school it's known as Dai but with most of the other Nakayama Sensei practitioners including the JKA this Kata is Gojushiho-Sho! Sho and Dai used to be both one Kata in the old days and according to the school and Sensei they were different in different areas. I wouldn't wouldn't worry too much about Sho and Dai as this is only a way of differentiating them from each other other....Gojushihi ONE and Gojushiho TWO!

ekkenaab Says:

Sep 19, 2011 - Thank You for explanation! Now i understand!
