Mar 19, 2012 - well, to be fair, as a woman, i do enjoy how i look in them and will wear them to please myself, and not to attract others' attention. PLus, my inner child likes the added height :P But I do see your point - and more than 9 times out of 10, i'll choose boots, sneakers, and flats, because they are functional, which is so much more important than fashion.

Mar 29, 2012 - I look at poetry differently now, I usually read in my mind with a monotone tone, I never thought of adding emphasis like she does. She really read that well

Mar 31, 2012 - Easy to understand, Katie Makkai emphasis her point of the definition of "Pretty". With the combination of humor, hand gestures, sarcasm, and facial expression, she makes poems east to listen to and entertaining. She did lack components that would have made her reading more exceptional than what it was, such as volume and emotion. With a little more variation in both components, she would captured the audience more than she did. But to her advantage, her speed created suspense for the reader.

Apr 2, 2012 - I like that she touched base on a lot of issues that girls face on a daily basis. She seemed very moved throughout the entire performance, and she never seemed to lose focus or die out. I also like how she articulated her words, was easy to understand, and used her hands just enough so that it wasn't obnoxious. The underlying message I believed was clear and easy to comprehend. Any women, no matter where they are at in life could relate to her words.
