Feb 2, 2012 - @wth16888 Maybe it will come. But there are several teams making one to go at 1000 miles per hour, or 1690 km/h.

Feb 2, 2012 - @EEEL123 Yes, the bloodhoundSSC. The Americans are going to go for the record with the 'eagle', which as far as I can tell is an F-104 starfighter with wheels and a J-79 strapped to the back. That will probably work but I have very high hopes for Bloodhound.BTW, I meant that we should have more of these sorts of qualities on display and more importantly they should be celebrated in Britain.
EEEL123 Says:
Feb 3, 2012 - @highlands The American Eagle will probably work, but whether it will break the record is in doubt. The Bloodhound seems a more far-fetched and novel design, so it might not work, but if it does... And there are also two Australian teams trying to win the record, but they probably won't do too well, but don't write them off - the holder of the water speed record is Australian.

Feb 9, 2012 - 1,149km/hr is said to be supersonic? Supersonic my foot! The speed of sound in air is 330m/s-340 m/s (or 1188km/hr-1224km/hr) in air. This vehicle purported to go supersonic actually traveled at Mach 0.938726 - 0.9671 & had therefore gone sub sonic. So why all the fake thrill of a phantom achievement? I am not so sure about the 'sonic boom' generated to be heard by the listeners (which I presume ought to have occurred at supersonic speeds). This is probably a fallacious joke, "record" or not!
PrivateCustard Says:
Feb 9, 2012 - @7olusegun I can't expect you to trawl through 8000 comments for the explanation, so I'll tell you now.The original creator of this video made an error and referred to an earlier runs top speed when he put this together. The actual average over two runs was 763.035mph, and the sonic boom was in fact real. The team that built Thrust are currently planning on breaking this record.........and trying for 1000mph!

Feb 10, 2012 - @Plissken68 thats absolutely unfair. You could say that about anything at all!!! You could say that about the space needle, private jets, boats even your stupid ipod. At least this contributes to the scientific community. You have no right to say things like this. especially since this was made nearly 15 years ago...

Feb 10, 2012 - @juan9999ism The camera on the SSC Thrust?? The SSC Thrust was actually going so fast the camera's lense was slightly bending and causing streaks across the lense.

Feb 11, 2012 - @PrivateCustard The difference is: the PC is used every day for a lot of different things, and not just this comment. This car is useless unless a giant highway is built in the sky connecting USa to Europe.
