Flite Test - HobbyKing Nano-Tech - REVIEWIn this episode of Flite Test, watch as the team puts two rival batteries to the test. Which one will will shed light on the situation? Watch this episode to find out.Batteries tested:Thunder Power 2250mAh G6 65C Continuous 130C BurstNano-Tech 2250mAh 65C Continuous 130C BurstTurnigy 2200mAh 20C Continuous 30C BurstWe used three rows of halogen lights to discharge the batteries. The power analyzer was only connected to one so we wouldn't kill it. While the voltage is actual, the watts and amps are 1/3 of the actual draw. The display at the bottom is the temperature in Fahrenheit.

Jan 3, 2012 - @smorgardsboard No worries :)

rolf1992 Says:

Jan 5, 2012 - Gens Ace is THE brand you want!

HamdhanA330 Says:

Jan 7, 2012 - Hmm, well, I think for the cost, the nano-techs are a great buy anyway!

bassman2914 Says:

Jan 7, 2012 - I'm on your side Chad, you guys never claimed to be testing lifespan but how truley the C rating was. Concidering the thunder power batteries were only being drawn at 41c and not 65c they shouldn't have puffed(though yes they did go past 3.0v per cell). At a full 65c(let alone 130c burst) the thunder power would've been destroyed.

Celledral Says:

Jan 12, 2012 - You guys should try the GENS ACE

numex106 Says:

Jan 14, 2012 - two for the price of one is still a good deal

jbonnardel Says:

Jan 15, 2012 - not when it leaves you with 2 batteries you cant use! 2 junk is still not as good as 1 that works. I have put another 3 weeks on my Nano's, and can verify they dont kick nearly as hard as they did in the first month.

numex106 Says:

Jan 15, 2012 - what about gens ace, i hear they're pretty on par with tp

pietzeekoe Says:

Jan 19, 2012 - how about zippy?

helipassion Says:

Jan 19, 2012 - That wasn't my experience. My nano-techs lost a lot of "punch" after about 6 flights. They're the whole reason I changed TO Thunderpower. The Thunderpowers are still going strong after 8 months. No noticeable degradation.

flyinwalenda Says:

Jan 26, 2012 - What nonsense. The "kids" never took or showed baseline readings of each battery prior to testing. How do we know if both were fully charged? Makes a big difference. Plus you can't put any stock in a company reviewing it's product against a well known competitor.

tms190 Says:

Jan 31, 2012 - Buyed 3x of The Nano tech hope it works in the Katana MD just got build

connieindahouse Says:

Feb 14, 2012 - Thundercats are goooo

neonbluen851 Says:

Feb 21, 2012 - litetest!!!

jon780 Says:

Mar 4, 2012 - I trust Flitetest, but feel free to run your own test. You don't have to believe them if you don't want to.

jurajkuran Says:

Mar 20, 2012 - make a retest after 50cycles and 100cycles, lets see what will the status be after real life usage.good lipo out of the box is one thing and lifespan is another.please retest :)

orgeomer Says:

Apr 2, 2012 - Especially, 65-130 like nice. Because the. low internal resistance. Please, measure the internal resistance of Thunder Power. And to compare and share here. Price and performance is important. TP is very expensive.Measurement of internal resistance for nano 65youtube.com/watch?v=iMCA6xvOg38youtube.com/watch?v=x-Up5Frjq3s

Apr 6, 2012 - hi can you guys make a full reveiw of p-51 mustang ?

2009PatrickWhite Says:

Apr 10, 2012 - I like the decal on you board with the lights, "lite test". Also, can you do a full review of the durafly p-51 mustang?

Paul Foster Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - 1) The start voltage of the batteries is not shown, the camera angle conveniently changes exactly at the start of both tests. A small difference in start voltage makes a massive difference to the results !!2) At the start of the test the thunderpower pack is showing 95.4A draw (3*31.8A) which is 42.4C or only 65% of max C and yet its allready at 9.59 V, it would hold over 11v for at least the first 10 secs or so. This clearly shows that the Thunderpower pack was not fully charged... continued

Paul Foster Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - Cont....3) There is a comment that the Thunder pack "has puffed", yet again the camera conveniently is pointing elsewhere and we never see the evidence. Then the nano pack is said to have "not puffed" but the camera is now available again to show it in all its non puffed glory. If you want to be taken seriously then do proper accurate testing, not ambiguous testing that looks suspiciously like your trying to make your own product look better than it is, which is exactly what your doing here !.

May 7, 2012 - I have a homebuilt plane (an extra 260) weighing 1200g with a 330W , 2300 rpm motor, I wonder what battery I can use ? (bad english, i´m from sweden too ;) )

Zeropointbug Says:

May 19, 2012 - What a joke of a discharge test, I can tell anyone RIGHT NOW, that this test was rigged, the ThunderPower pack was roughly already 80% discharged already, with only 500mah remaining... and the nano-tech was fully charged, and only managed ~600mah, what a piece of crap. ThunderPower batteries are the best packs you can buy, don't trust these guys WHO ARE SPONSORED by them to give you an honest review...

porousorifice Says:

May 20, 2012 - IMHO, having used many brands of lipo's over many years i have until recently come to expect the advertised C discharge rate to be almost half the actual capability of the battery(excluding T. P.). For me Thunder Power is the benchmark i compare other brands to. Everyone i know who has ran T.P. packs agree without any doubt they are the best when it comes to performance as well as weight vs capacity. The price of T.P. packs is why i have tried many other brands(all but Nanotech failed C rating)

porousorifice Says:

May 20, 2012 - I run T.P. 3 cell packs and recently some 3 cell nanotech and i have to say for the price vs performance i am very happy with the nanotech's so far !The amperage draw vs initial voltage drop is not consistent to a fully charged pack with a cont. dis. of 65C.A fully charged T.P. 2250mha with a cont. dis. of 65C pushing under 140A for that period of time should not drop below 9 volt and puff up. If this actually occurred T.P. would consider it defective and replace it at no charge i believe.
