And whatever you do to the bottom you have to do to the top, so if you multiply the one that represents 5 by five, you need to do it the same way with the 5 on top. May 15, 2012 - I hear a lot of people here saying their teacher didn't explain it well enough. If you're still in grade school I suggest you let your teachers know. Khan Academy does an excellent job but ultimately you need to be getting this stuff from your teachers because it's their homework you'll be doing. If you don't understand their method of teaching, you might not be the only one and she/he will need your feedback so that they can better their approach.
