Feb 25, 2012 - I don't think the galaxy was "dead" it just only had one humanoid species, maybe just one sapient species even. They were "alone" in the sense that there weren't any other species they could talk to and identify with.

Feb 29, 2012 - I'd say they came from a galaxy in fluidic space, but I know that's not true since there are no steller bodies in fluidic space to our knowledge. So yeah my bad.

Mar 13, 2012 - if the galaxy was entirely dead then how did this super species come to be
VerterosGaming Says:
Mar 17, 2012 - I'm implying that the galaxy had no sentient life with the exception of the single species.

Mar 19, 2012 - actually, isn't that concept hinted at in the original series?
oldschooljoest Says:
Mar 20, 2012 - Besides the explanation given in TNG, why doesn't anyone recall "the undiscovered country"?! Where basically the exact dialog raj is making fun of actually takes place?!?Kirk is told: "Not every life form has their private parts at the same place..." - after winning a fight by kicking an alien against his knee.

Mar 22, 2012 - I'll be honest, a lot of people say that TOS is the best, it was amazing so on so forth, but I got very bored of it very quickly. I was spoilt by Voyager and Deep Space Nine (Which were the first two series I watched) and I didn't like the lore conflicts, style, etc that TOS had to offer. As such I never watched more than two episodes, the one where Kirk fights a Gorn and the Mirror Universe episode, so I wouldn't know about how the concept may have been hinted in the series :( sorry

Apr 6, 2012 - But Pon Farr is when they're actually physically driven to mate. Mating any other time is probably rare if you consider the fact that Vulcan's do not like to release control of their emotions and 'mating' sort of requires not only a release of emotion, but that the Vulcan inform their partner of such emotion. Only real excuse they'd have is the requirement of progeny, otherwise they see at as barbaric. They even see the Pon Farr as barbaric and something they're 'obligated' to do.
pokupokupoku Says:
Apr 8, 2012 - I wouldn't call myself a big Trek fan, but I'm pretty sure Roddenberry said at some point that Vulcans have sex as often as humans do...otherwise Vulcans would only be born every seven years, which would be pretty silly. I'd guess that the main reason they see Pon Farr as 'barbaric' isn't because of the sex itself, but because it causes them to lose control of their emotions and act like nothing more than angry animals in heat. Every other time they probably just approach sex logically. lol

Feb 22, 2012 - Actually, in one of the star trek movies Kirk kicks an alien in the knee cap while he is in prison. The shape shifter tells him that not all genitals are in the same place. That is the first thing I thought of, but then I was like oh I see what they are trying to do. They are trying to get the nerd out of the audience, and I then I was like 'yeah I agree with Raj.' I'm not a nerd to point out star trek facts to prove something wrong lol
