Mar 15, 2012 - This probably would never work with a dog that wasn't super calm and obedient!
Theroha Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - sorry to nitpick, but it should be spelled "oishidesu". the 'u' in the syllable 'su' in Japanese is silent or understated. the only "letter" westerners would recognize as standing alone in Japanese in 'n'. All other sounds in Japanese are combined into syllables.

Mar 26, 2012 - Also known as "konnyaku" or "devil's tongue". It's a gelatin-cake made from konjac powder, which is from a tuber kind of like a yam (sort of not really...). It takes a little getting used to because it has a peculiar, rubbery texture, but it's really fun in dishes like oden.

Apr 2, 2012 - you also forgot an "i", you know... it's oishii
Theroha Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - You're right. I used google translate to double check to make sure that I had it right, & it used the line over the 'i' instead of doubling the 'i' so I missed it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Apr 3, 2012 - "That's all for the cutting."For some reason, that sentence struck me as incredibly funny.

Apr 3, 2012 - As a recent subscriber in America...I love the art of benoting and Japanese cooking. While I can't reproduce these exact recipes, they are inspiring for me to make something similar, or maybe just take parts of the recipe to use for bento (like the cabbage spinach wrap)
