Title: In prison for debt
Added: Jun 1, 2011
Author: RTAmerica
Duration: 7:6
Description:
If owing money isn't a criminal offense anymore in America, why are so many debtors being sent to prison? People need to pay the bills, says New Deal 2.0's Bryce Covert, but throwing them in jail won't solve anything. As Americans use credit cards to charge food and clothing as prices go higher and wages only drop, they need to be punished for being fraudulent, says Covert—but not by putting them in prison. Feb 22, 2012 - Just another example of bringing back antiquated laws and practices that so many have fought to abolish and reform through blood sweat and tears. How can this be happening? In a few short years all the civil rights that were gained over the hard work of generations are being systematically crushed. Welcome to George Orwell's Big Brother society. This is being implemented globally with such swiftness everyone is reeling from the impacts of one shock after another and nobody knows how to stop it.
slowmopoke Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - In 1833 the United States abolished Federal imprisonment for unpaid debts,Six states (Arkansas, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Washington) allow debt collectors to seek arrest warrants for debtors in default if all other collection methods have failed. Whether a debtor will actually be prosecuted or not varies from state to state, county to county, and town to town...

Apr 3, 2012 - There is a legal procedure for those that do not pay their debts. It's called a civil action. It gets filed with the municipal court, the court then sends a summons, and upon failure to comply with a court decision, the loosing party may be subject to contempt charges. Now, any police officer involved in arresting somebody for a debt without authority of court, is subject to criminal charges themselves and should expect to be removed from position permanantly.

Apr 23, 2012 - This is dark age tyranny being enforced in the 21st century. People need to open their eyes and see that Mankind as a species is far too old for this. We've become so scientifically advanced, so genius, but nobody has managed to invent a form of government that works without the use of a currency system. As abundant in resources as we are now, so many have to suffer, starve, and go to prison simply because they don't have as much as the "average" citizen.
MatthaiosM1 Says:
Apr 23, 2012 - What's next Uncle Scam? Enslavement of debtors? That's what the FEMA Economic Crisis camps are for; so anyone who makes less than $25,000 a year can work assembly lines with a firing squad behind their back until they die from exhaustion. Tell them your plans, Bilderberg.
Darrel Teerden Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - We should do this all over and prosecute them all. That'll get those deadbeats to pay up!

May 21, 2012 - Am wandering how much of this could be from Stimulus, TARP, newer finance law, or our most recent health care laws where something like this tucked in and we are none the wiser. Other than something like that, they need to go by the state/county/borough/city/ and yes-I live in a village. The end point is what does the laws in your area define a misdemeanor or felony. The bad thing there-a lot of people have debt-especially on credit cards can be way more than say 5k. Also go by your contract
daveme7 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Another part of this is I honestly believe is happening-In my state(PA) one judge was getting kickbacks for how many kids they send away as guilty when it was such a contrived trials-the for profit prison would make money for what they get from a state. In some prisons that are for profit-who has prisoners who make stuff. printing and putting together calendars just one example. I just wander if anyone could see this as economic slavery
