Description:
This video shows a screen capture of a demo which runs at 60 fps. It combines novel methods to shade leafs and to animate highly detailed trees.Each of the tens of thousands of leaves and thousands of branches is individually animated whileall leaves react correctly to the light, both in reflectance and translucence.The lighting is completely dynamic and the scene is rendered using HDR and a linear rendering pipeline together with a Reinhard tone mapper. The sky is created using the Preetham skylight model which also drives the color of the multi-bounce ambient occlusion maps. A high resolution Poisson-filtered shadow map creates accurate shadows including correct self-shadowing.The methods applied have been published in:Physically Based Real-Time Translucency for Leaves (Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2007)Physically Guided Animation of Trees (Eurographics 2009)

Feb 21, 2012 - from wikipedia: "Real-time rendering is one of the interactive areas of computer graphics, it means creating synthetic images fast enough on the computer so that the viewer can interact with a virtual environment." Real time graphics can be seen as like the opposite of cutscene videos.

Feb 21, 2012 - interact. but on what level of interactivity. both of my definitions of real-time rendering still fits. interactivity by moving the camera is considered interactive -.- se what i mean? real time graphics can be hard to tell unless you actually have the program at hand.

May 20, 2012 - It is rendered in real-time. So yes, that's game graphics. Not to mention its 60fps and is probably capped by vertical sync meaning it can go even higher. This was also done 3 years ago on a crappy graphics card and current computers can do a lot better.
