May 22, 2012 - Oh, boy, I bet you think you're smart. You can buy computer parts online and follow instructions. I bet you think you're "so cool" and that you're better than all those "Mac people."I can assure you there are a lot of progammers out there using OS X that are smarter than you are, because sticking a CPU in the north bridge of a motherboard like the guy on the forum told you to DOES NOT MAKE YOU GOOD WITH COMPUTERS.

May 22, 2012 - A Dell rig? You don't build a Dell. You build a Desktop. A Dell is a brand of pre-built PC, unless you had them build one to your customizations. In which case you didn't yourself build it. There is also absolutely no way you built a PC with a 2gb Geforce Graphics card for 650 bucks, considering the card alone would be at LEAST half of that amount. Add in a 1TB HD and 8GB of ram as you claim and you're already over 650 bucks and you haven't even told us your choice of Mobo. Built my ass.

May 25, 2012 - Its true that PC get more viruses than MAC, the reason is cause the number of pc users is higher than the mac users, and pc was there long before mac was born. Even now there is a lot of pc's than mac, and the most targeted places for virus attackers are businesses and credit card holders, and all businesse use PC, so people create more viruses for PC than MAC, so that they can hack, steal information, or just spam, sell anitviruses, hack and stuff like that. FACTS!

May 25, 2012 - hi im a mac,and im a pc,and im a linux.(mac and pc look at each other and beat up linux)

Compwhiz128 Says:

May 26, 2012 - Isnt that the case with any corporate product? I think you're thinking in more terms of hardware, I have to agree as I refuse to use any newer apple products (I use an 08 MBP) Lions a bag of crap thats cut ties with older programs, mac guru friend agrees. Hardwares out of date and any sense of hardware flexibility is being phased out (ram&cpu soldered to mainboard). Eventually im switching to windows, and run OSX in a VM - the tables have turned, and apples liberal propaganda is icky as well.

kaiblaize Says:

May 26, 2012 - MAC IS 1000000000000000000X BETTER THAN PC

AndrewDeLong Says:

May 26, 2012 - Actually, the cheapest GeForce graphics card out there, that is also 2GB, is the GeForce GT 520, which only runs as high as $60. 8GB of RAM doesn't even run $50 these days, and a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue (which is a standard 7200rpm HDD) can run as low as $99.So that's $60 + $50 + $99, which comes out to $209. Building a computer with those specs, for $650 (or less) is actually VERY doable.

AndrewDeLong Says:

May 26, 2012 - You're right. Being able to build a computer from bare bone parts, does not a smart operator make. However, doing that PLUS being able to install all of the drivers, navigate a non-UEFI BIOS to configure your fan speeds and RAID setup for your HDD's, as well as Overclocking your CPU...now that takes an individual who is somewhat attuned to the technical side of things, wouldn't you say? Also, real programmers are never stupid enough to stick with only one OS. They'd use them all.

DontPickMePlease Says:

May 27, 2012 - No, you don't really have to be that smart to navigate through BIOS and install a third-party program that asks you what speed you want your CPU to be. Sure, smarter than my grandma, but still, not enough for bragging rights.Once you know enough lambda calculus to expertly code in Lisp and can detail to me exactly why Java's libraries are better than C++'s, then we can talk. Also, many people stick with only one OS. More unified, or not enough HDD space to double-boot.

10cannons Says:

May 27, 2012 - ARE YOU A GOOD PERSON? Have you ever told a lie? yes or no. Have you ever stolen something? yes or no. So if God judges you only on these 2 commandments will you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? For God said, all liars and thieves cannot enter heaven but will goto hell. Does that concern you? But Jesus bore the sins of those who CONFESS and REPENT(turn from sin and turn to Jesus) and put their faith and trust in Him as there Lord and Savior shall have everlasting life. We all sin! REPENT!!

AndrewDeLong Says:

May 27, 2012 - Lol. Third party programs to OC. Maybe kids do that shit. Myself, straight into the BIOS with a calculator, voltage style my friend. No bullshit OC Genie that might fuck up the CPU something fierce. Also, going with multiple OS's is as simple as having some spare HDD's. $50 a pop will get one far these days.I don't know a single programmer that only sticks with one OS. Even the fanboys (OSX, Windows, or Linux) I know admit to muti-platform setups.

MaestroDraven Says:

May 27, 2012 - I don't have a problem with a company wanting to make profit. What I do have a problem with is rampant price-gouging, because then it's no longer an issue of a company charging more for lets say, aesthetics. It suddenly becomes an insult to one's intelligence, akin to bold-faced arrogance and smugness. Apple knows that most people don't know much about hardware, what it costs, or value-per-lifespan. That's why Mountain Lion won't run on most pre-2009 era Macs, to force a new purchase cycle.

sergey98352 Says:

May 27, 2012 - GO WINDOWS

Compwhiz128 Says:

May 27, 2012 - Yeah, its really gay. Same could be said for cars too, and how folks take advantage of their ignorance to sell them spendy payment plans, or expensive repair plans upon break down.I did just read an article about that, and no my 08 MBP isnt compatible. Doesnt Microsoft do this with each new version of Windows, to do the same thing?

MaestroDraven Says:

May 27, 2012 - Definitely not. You can run Windows 98 on today's hardware, provided you don't run into driver issues, which isn't Microsoft's fault. I mean, Windows XP has been around for over a decade, and it'll run on anything these days. For Apple to tell people that their 2008-era Macs won't run on the next version of their OS smacks of an excuse to force customers to buy new Macs, which is precisely what is happening. Apple uses many excuses. None of them add up.

Compwhiz128 Says:

May 27, 2012 - Oh yeah of course you can run 98 LOL. But that still is very gay of apple to pull such a stunt, Leopard at the latest can run on a moded powermac G3 with a aftermarket processor, and thats it, snow leopard dropped powerPC support, buggethy Lion dropped PPC apps, and so on. Thats just how it works in corporate america I suppose, but the whole corporate system is to come crashing down. on a side note: awesome VG remixes btw.. c8

SuperFreeWare Says:

May 27, 2012 - Wanna download all you fav' shows for free? Including this one that you're watching right now?/watch?v=c8l3QA-1Aqk

DontPickMePlease Says:

May 27, 2012 - You're still not a genius for doing that. Once you know how to build a functional computer from logic gates and have a deep understanding of electron physics, then come talk to me.Also there are really smart people that only use one OS because that's enough for them. They don't see the benefits of wasting an hour or 2 getting Hacinktosh to set up or $100 for Windows. Linux/BSD is fine for them. Like me, I have Debian on my desktop and FreeBSD on my file server.

AndrewDeLong Says:

May 27, 2012 - If you wanna limit yourself to know how to code for only one OS, fine. Personally, I'm an editor, not a coder, so my knowledge stops at troubleshooting drivers for RAM, GPU's, and other such media intense peripherals. But, luckily, I can troubleshoot in both major OS's, which makes me twice as employable as an editor who only knows how to do so in one. Fact is, people like me HAVE to know more than one OS, because that's the field. Only people that want limited employment, stick with one OS.

MaestroDraven Says:

May 27, 2012 - Well, that may be. If you look at Apple's history, they very cleverly invent reasons why people should upgrade. Not because they need to, but because Apple has convinced them that it's the prudent thing to do. That's why resale value is such a hollow buzz word. When you've already been price-gouged on an expensive Mac, what good does it do to sell it 1 year later, and repeat the process all over again? Thanks dude :) I haven't had time to do any more lately, but hopefully soon.
