Title: Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead Extended Trailer

Added: Mar 7, 2011

Author: FatSickandNearlyDead

Duration: 5:24

Description:
100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn't end well- with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn't far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe's personal mission to regain his health. With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long-term, Joe turns to the only option left, the body's ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road with juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle. While talking to more than 500 Americans about food, health and longevity, it's at a truck stop in Arizona where Joe meets a truck driver who suffers from the same rare condition. Phil Staples is morbidly obese weighing in at 429 lbs; a cheeseburger away from a heart-attack. As Joe is recovering his health, Phil begins his own epic journey to get well. What emerges is nothing short of amazing - an inspiring tale of healing and human connection. Part road trip, part self-help manifesto, FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD defies the traditional documentary format to present an unconventional and uplifting story of two men from different worlds who each realize that the only person who can save them is themselves.

Apr 22, 2012 - Im obese as shit. 450 pounds. It never really bothered me till i saw a video of me working a show the other night at the right angle. Im disgusted in myself at this point that ive let myself get this big. I dont see how women sleep with me. Unless they like water beds. A friend of mine suggested i watch fat, sick, and nearly dead and its loading right now. Hopefully this helps on my journey to non fat assness.

Apr 22, 2012 - Although juicing your veggies and fruit is what 98% of us americans need, you still need fibre. Eat a diet with no fibre and say goodbye cuz you're digestive system will let you know why in a very bad bad way.

TheSpitmitt Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - Theres no point to any of this because we have chemtrails in our sky. Its a fact and the government admits to the spraying.

Apr 23, 2012 - I hope you stick with it. It will be worth it and you will be glad you did. Just remember to keep in mind; you ARE important enough to take care of yourself. I wish you luck. :)

Apr 23, 2012 - It is supposed to only be temporary while one gets their body systems back in order and sheds toxins from the body. Occasional fasting is good for you.

Apr 23, 2012 - No! First of all, diet pills are not good for you. You shouldn't use them at all. Besides, all they do is suppress the appetite. If you are already controlling what you are putting into your body, there is no need for an appetite suppressant. Diet pills do not make you lose weight, they just make you not want to eat. Focus on getting healthy; healthy food, plenty of physical activity (and also develop a positive outlook). The weight loss will come along naturally once you start to get healthy.

Apr 23, 2012 - That is very true. Fibre is essential and there's none in juice, meat, eggs or dairy. If people don't want to eat whole raw foods, they can chop and mix fruit/vegetables in a blender with water. If you are going to juice, at least eat some (or all) of the pulp instead of tossing away the fibre you need. My theory is that you may even absorb MORE nutrients and use less energy indigestion that way.

AmbiguousFreak Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - Vary good point Rhomo, not everyone can afford fresh fruits & vegetables, especially when they have a family to feed & live on minimum wage. Yes, people can choose to eat less food, but not everyone can choose to eat healthy food

bekaboo212 Says:

May 4, 2012 - I don't get it. Why is he so obsessed with juice? Why can't he just include more fruits and vegetables in his normal diet? I eat a pretty wholesome diet - wild rice, sauteed vegetables, beans, cheese, whole grain bread, whole fruits, granola, the occasional indulgence, and it's really not that hard. So why would I go out of my way, buy a juicer, skip out on full meals in exchange for a liquid smoothie (not filling at all) when I could just eat the right stuff in the first place?

KKislitsyna Says:

May 5, 2012 - i ate a healthy diet before too but after watching this movie I did 30 days fast. Honestly, I felt like a new person my depression and insomnia were gone.

LSpear76RCN Says:

May 6, 2012 - I've been juice fasting for 41 days and have lost 17 lbs. I am not losing as much weight as the people in this movie but I was not as overweight as they are either. i started at 5'6" 193 and now I'm 176. I did go through a week or so where I was coughing up mucus so it's possibly my body is repairing itself more than dropping weight. I feel pretty good, though.

sacredwaters9 Says:

May 15, 2012 - I have found this documentary to be the most informative, easy to understand and heartfelt pieces of wok I have seen! Thank you Joe For the education on how food works in our bodies, sharing your struggles and successes. You have assisted me in my journey in weight loss, I am always revamping my diet, but found something was missing and this was it!!! You have given me a powerful tool my friend: EDUCATION AND INFORMATION. Thank you! My family and I thank you! I will see you at the finish line.

May 15, 2012 - Good for you!!! I'll pray for you that's amazing. Get healthy I'm rooting for you!!! Just started my juice cleanse today.

Baker Bettie Says:

May 17, 2012 - He is "rebooting" his body that has been damaged for years with processed foods. When you drink juice, your digestive system gets a break and your body can use that energy to repair the damage that has been done. A glass of juice is packed with tons of micronutrients, more than you could possibly eat in a day if you are eating "normal" food. And it is quite filling actually. And it sounds like your eating lifestyle is working for you so nobody is telling you to go buy a juicer.

xm9980 Says:

morningglorify Says:

May 21, 2012 - I'm inspired by Joe and have phased into a fast - I am already a vegan, so the transition has been reasonably manageable. I have added finely ground Milk Thistle seeds to my juices, and drink Borage/Dandelion/Lemon iced tea as well. I will look into the entire 'reboot' community, as it will be a support. Best of luck to everyone else who is reading this, as you are probably on the 'reboot' regime or considering it - such a healthy alternative to drugs!

ospencer1990 Says:

May 25, 2012 - This makes me want a juicer. I eat tons of veggies and fruit, but it would be fun for me to make juice out of them.

adamglass1988 Says:

May 26, 2012 - Healthy food doesnt cost that much more than "normal food" not that much. People are just addicted to the sugar in packaged food and use the money issue as an excuse.
