Jun 20, 2008 - I agree, it was a decent enough movie on its own, but a terrible FF movie. It had nothing to do with the games at all. The only thing it came close to having in common with the games was the fact that it pushed the boundries of CG at the time. I'm disappointed because it has probably ruined the chances of getting a proper FF movie someday (like a live action or more faithful CG one)...AC not included.Where were the chocobos and moogles?! The magic? Summons?

I don't understand why people were fooled, I mean, this movie was not made out to be more than it was. Even the trailer doesn't do it justice.Then people got Advent Children, a fan service creation just like X-2, and it wasn't 1/10 as good as The Spirits Within despite continuing the FFVII storyline. Let that be a lesson.

Jun 27, 2008 - I was never a fan of the FF series, and because of this, I can clearly see that Spirits Within was actually much better than Advent Children. Spirits Within was a real movie, and Advent Children was just, as one guy stated here, a fan service. The fanboys who criticized this movie simply wanted to see FF Characters on the big screen, and because of this, they were dissatisfied. I watched this with a hunger to see a movie with a good story and stunning visuals, and I must say, I came out full.

Jun 28, 2008 - Yeah each story was different. Got a point there. Still the genre seemed more science fiction in the film than fantasy based. The voice cast did a good job but it still would have been cooler as a fantasy adventure based type movie. But then I think Aki Ross would have had to be a princess or something. Yeah and Grey would have probably ended up as the swordsman hacking his way through enemies. Ha!

Jul 2, 2008 - Dude i'm so with you, this definately is STILL my favorite 3D animated movie.The most negative comments given on this movie are:-This movie isn't related to FF, therefore it sucks-The characters are way to static, meaning lacking in facial expressions, the way the move etc.These comments have no real worth because the movie is being watched with a prejudiced mindset, comparing it to other movies, and not as a movie that can stand on itself.

Jul 4, 2008 - This is the real GOOD ff movie, AC is just another escuse to keep earning money with final fantasy 7 characters, a movie for fangirls.....Spirit within was great and is still one of my favourite animated movies, the fact that its not based in any ff game is what make this movie another "episode" in ff saga, there are no sequels on ff, so this movie was telling us another story in another world as most of the ff games, well until they got insane with ff7 and start doing crap to make fans happy

Jul 29, 2008 - This movie could have been way better by just removing 2 words from the whole thing. Final and Fantasy. Because Final Fantasy games have always had a feel of, well, fantasy. This? This has more of a realistic feel. In fact the only unrealistic thing about this is the ghost thing that sucks people's souls out. Fantasy does not fit this movie at all so if they'd removed those two words, I feel this movie could have been much more successful.
