That was the point of their war - to rid the Middle Earth of the evils and infections pestering it before. And they did so, if just until new troubles came. Such as Morgoth's return. XD As for nobles, I doubt it. I think it would be fairly obvious he deserved the role - he didn't just come and take the throne. He came and saved it from ruin. Faramir wouldn't want it and would support his King.

May 27, 2012 - Like Bart said, Tolkien gives highlights of Aragorn's reign ... not just how it turned out, but start-to-finish highlights. And there's just not much there that would hint at any of the events you're suggesting. As far as nobles wanting Faramir to assume kingship ... he was more than ready to turn over rule to Aragorn, and accepted his continuing role as Steward and overseer of Ithilien both happily and gratefully. Your hypothetical nobles wouldn't have gotten traction without his support.
