Because someone did this like Southpark was originally made( though slightly differently), on paper. You would be imagining killer balloons too if your entire career revolved around drawing thousands of images just to produce 10 seconds of a mind numbing children's show. that's also why you see a lot of animated shows focused around adult viewers as well.
