Title: Janis Joplin - Little Girl Blue (This is Tom Jones, 1969)
Added: Nov 13, 2007
Author: RhinoAnnon
Duration: 3:43
Description:
Queen Janis sings an amazing version of this song, way back in 1969. I put this video up because it's rarely shown elsewhere, it's such a vulnerable performance and unlike anything else she ever recorded. Enjoy.

May 3, 2012 - I saw a part of this at `18 on a show called Rolling Stone 20 years of rock n roll on T.V. Hearing how all the heavywieghts of that era talk about her was nice, then I saw this ending on the T.Jones show, on this R.S special and It made me feel something. Enough to try and find it 25 years later. Without Youtube things like this would never been heard or seen ..thank you for the post

May 4, 2012 - its not a loss, we've gained, even though shes gone.. her presence in this world was to bring strength to anyone who needs it, through her soul, thats why she's so powerful, she was a soul trapped in her body and through her singing and her pain all of us get a chance to put all of our pain and struggles into her music, and Janis is alive to anyone who feels her.. thats what soul is

May 10, 2012 - Anyone ever notice in this vid how strong and powerful Janis appears when she's at the microphone, but looks so vulnerable and insecure and almost frightened the moment she steps away from it? This just gives me chills.

May 10, 2012 - This is one of my favorite songs by Nina Simone. Up until now, I thought no one else could put as much feeling and meaning into this song, except Nina. Janis Joplin redefined the meaning of soul with her own personal blues. Her music sends my spirit soaring into another demension. May she be at peace, but not at all resting:)

May 15, 2012 - God almighty if she doesn't blow that out of the water!!!! Maybe the greatest female rock vocal ever, and it's a Rogers and Hart song! Thank you, Janis, and God rest your sweet soul.

May 20, 2012 - yeah.. but note that this is one of the very rare times she doesn't have a band standing behind her. usually in between singing she would turn to look at them to cover her nervousness, here there is noone there. i love her sincerety and the fact that she's not trying to hide her vulnerability. unique, always loved and never forgotten...

May 20, 2012 - Although I like the studio version better, this video shows the intensity and soul of Miss Janis Joplin. I would love to have been able to see her LIVE, but we have so much music, so much video of one of the best "blues" singers around. Forever rest in peace, Janis.

May 21, 2012 - I get what yoiu're saying, but I don't think it's a matter of her not trying to hide her vulnerability, but more a case that she CAN'T hide it. At times when she's not at the microphone, she appears to look off into the distance like she's looking at someone for reassurrance. Whatever the case, there will never be another Janis.
