Description:
A Mel Gibson film,one of my favourate films,and I love the music very much,so,I made this.The Patriot tells the story of Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson), a widowed father of seven children, as he tries to keep his family together during the Revolutionary War. He had fought in the French and Indian War, since married and started a family. He has tried to put his actions in that war behind him, but still carries some guilt and regret from those actions. He fears that his past will come back to haunt him. When war breaks out, his eldest son Gabriel (Heath Ledger) joins the fight against his wishes. Benjamin soon ends up reluctantly joining the fight as well. His successfully leads a militia band against the British until Colonel William Tavington (Jason Isaacs) is ordered to do everything he can to capture or kill Martin and his South Carolina militia.

Apr 14, 2012 - That's probably because it was the other way around;better check those stats again Sparky. I guess they teach Math & History differently in Finland than they do everywhere else. The British had us outgunned (not including Germans/Natives) with soldiers,sailors,& loyalists by 3-1. Total American casualties were higher than British,but that's not surprising given they fielded a 100% professional force & we didn't. We still kicked their ass-a fact I rarely see the British or Europeans accepting.

The way your statement reads, you're saying that Americans had 3 times as many men & twice as many casualties as the British did. It was the other way around; the British had 3 times as many men,& though America had more casualties (not unexpected due the disparity in forces) it certainly wasn't twice as many.I won't comment either way on the state of historical education in Finland.

May 1, 2012 - This film seemed very historically accurate based on what I read about president Andrew Jackson. 12 years old became a prisoner of war under the British when he refused to polish the boots of a British officer the officer slashed jackson accross his face with his sword leaving him scars that jackson carried for the rest of his. Jackson had a lifetime of hatred against the british after what happened to him. I can't say that I blame him.

Jan 21, 2012 - The movie speaks for itself. There were Good people on all sides. America was won on HOLY PRINCIPLES against all odds by men and women of HONOR. 1/3 were only PATRIOTS. While 1/3 were TORIES and another 1/3 were on the FENCE basically waiting and watching which side to join or playing both sides against themselve the middle. TYRANNY and SLAVERY in ideas, philosophy, business, law, religion...all of it was the SACRIFICIAL GOAT...while FREEDOM was the LAMB!
