Aug 12, 2011 - booo... buy a flash butt welder!!!!!! This is OBSOLETE.
coldblue9mm Says:
Sep 23, 2011 - You're talking out your ass. This is very much in use today on American railroads. This is called "Field Welding" and is done by local welders on districts everywhere. Flash butt welding is great but is used more in a production type setting, ie large rail gangs, projects and so on. So get back under your bridge you troll. You know nothing. And NO, this isn't how CWR is made, it's how CWR stays CWR when you have to cut in a replacement rail due to defects.

Nov 12, 2011 - i love welding but if i get the chance to use thermite i will

Feb 29, 2012 - I've been a thermite welder since 84...joints should not be right across from each other because of the stress...and its not good to put the torch in the top of the pot like that because it blows out the lighter compounds in the charge...also the pot can develop a weak spot because of the heat and piss out a stream of hot metal...kinda sloppy in the netherlands imho
