I got hold of some 2600F capacitors that can dump hundreds of amps. Normally these are used in electric cars to handle sudden stops and starts. Instead, I use them to vaporize bits of metal, and show you the 3 most important capacitor equations along the way. Don't try this at home kids!

May 27, 2012 - a farad is a unit of capacitance, the more capacity, the more energy you can store (the more amps you can release), volatge is just the electrical potential, you still need it for the electricty to flow though. the more voltage you have, the better the electricity will move through a medium. last time i checked, roughly every 1kv you have is 1mm electricity can move through the air.

Apr 29, 2012 - Try getting a 9V battery out and touching the positive and negative leads of it. The reason these capacitors seem so much more dangerous than your 9V battery is because they have a lot lower resistance. Because your skin has thousands of ohms of resistance, and you can only start to feel current at ~5mA DC, you wouldn't even feel anything.
