I have seen the remake of the Prisoner, I must admit it is not as good as the original series, the character of Number 6 in the new version doesn't have the same powerful presence. As you rightly say Patrick McGoohan had a defiant spirit and would fight his captors fearlessly. Yes the original series was far superior in every way I think. Best Regards!

Oct 1, 2010 - The series has been running on ITV4 for some time and is superb to view as the images are crystal clear.I still find it hard to believe that Patrick McGoohan is no longer with us. The episode shown yesterday featured Eric Portman and Rachel Herbert. I wonder what happened to her as I don't hear anything of her.

The last thing I heard about Rachel Herbert was in 2003 she was involved in The Prisoner 35 years of a TV Phenomenon. The episode you saw was the one where she played Number 58 I think. She also appeared with Patrick in Danger Man. Best Regards!

Nov 19, 2010 - hello sir...I couldn't help but noticed that you've brought up this subject....now that you've seen the remake.....I was wondering if you've felt any sense of regret watching it..if not, that's okay if you don't...I respect that.... but for me... I've felt the remake was cliche, boring, hollow, fake, and disrespectful... It didn't provide any new meaning...It was an embarrassment to the original & it's successors that's been providing new meaning with their own unique style.

Nov 19, 2010 - I mean...what's the point of remaking a show when you got other moderns shows that follows it's template? Shows like The Pretender, Nowhere Man, The Odyssey, Brazil, The Truman Show & Lost...the list goes on & on. I wouldn't be surprised if the remake ripped-off Lost. It's a waste of time. Also I've felt that it was cynical of them to air it a few months in the wake of Mr. McGoohan's passing. I've felt they've exploited it for profit's sake & that's bothersome to me.-R78

May 25, 2011 - See the episode "The chimes of Big Ben". 15 minutes & 20 seconds into it, #6 & #2 are chatting on the beach. #2 is explaining that 'two opposing sides will eventually realize they're looking into a mirror. Then the whole world will become like "the village", then we will have perfect New World Order. Sounds like the american politics of 'Democans & the Republicrats' to me.
