Apr 23, 2012 - Here is proof that Levon Helm was the voice of the band!

Apr 23, 2012 - Without public opinions of our behaviors on or off stage, we would be what? Unknown. Each member of the Band will be remembered for their contributions to the greatest R&R band ever. No matter what their personal demons they wrote and played some of the most memorable and timeless music. I miss each and every one of you guys living or deceased. Thank you for letting me open for you back in the 90's In Harrisburg Pa. Your memories are eternal! Ra

Apr 24, 2012 - No, I know what you're talking about, but I believe that was just plain hurt talking, Levon felt really hurt by stuff that went down, bands are like that often, like a difficult marriage with no hope ever of "counseling" -
pputnam100 Says:
Apr 24, 2012 - well, a great songwriter, but clear to see why it was best to let others sing the songs....ouch!

Apr 25, 2012 - Sad to see rick knowing that he is dead. Even more sad not to see manuel and knowing that he was already dead. Heartbroken to know now that levon is dead.

Apr 26, 2012 - The Band was the best band ever... RIP to the trio... Robbie is a classy guy ... he was always my favorite. Love to Garth too.

Apr 26, 2012 - My girlfriend had exactly the same observation when we recently watched Last Waltz together. I was always hating Robbie, but she pointed out that he's the sober one trying to hold it together to get through the show, while the others just want to get high and coast on their awesome talent and their friends. Rick's clearly the leader, and it's painful to watch him descend and the others try to ignore Robbie, even on stage, while Rick tries so hard not to offend Robbie. A lot of truth there.

Apr 30, 2012 - It's just sad that Levon was on his death-bed before he and Robbie buried the hatchet. Life is too short people!

May 1, 2012 - Here's my take on the Levon/Robbie rift. Levon was a man who believed strongly in loyalty. Robbie saw The Band, particularly Richard Manuel, succombing to the rigors of the road. He was worried if they stayed on the road, Manuel would die. Robbie wanted to just record in the studio. It never really worked out that way and people moved on. By the time The Band reunited, Robbie was in a different place, working with Scorsese. Turns out Robbie was right. The songwriting credit issue is a red heron.

Apr 23, 2012 - Levon Helm, Fred Carter Jr. and Ronnie Hawkins, were the flame...Everyone else were the moths. Albeit some really talented folks, but moths to the flame nevertheless..and yeah Robbie was one of those super talented moths...ironic thing, Levon was more of a success in Hollywood than Robbie. Robbie got all starry eyed with Hollywood.
