Apr 28, 2012 - My friend Jaco Pastorius (who toured with her and played bass on several of her albums in the 70's) sure did....

Apr 28, 2012 - JT never stopped loving her. To this day, he still can't talk about it. Joni was everyone's teacher. It was either Freud or Jung who once said, "Everywhere I go, I find a poet has been there before me." For those of us who grew up in the generation of Joni's peak songwriting, she was the poet who went before us. Nice to hear them singing a duet. Thaks for putting this one up.

Apr 29, 2012 - Are you kidding me? First off, I like JT a lot, so don't get me wrong. But...He broke her heart, and she left him because HE had a cocaine addiction, and he was never home with her and the kids. It's one thing not to like her, that's just fine. But don't lie like you just did in your comment.

May 7, 2012 - If it makes you feel any better, there are plenty of kids my age (I'm fifteen) who appreciate this stuff.

May 7, 2012 - Always loved Joni and only recently been made aware of James Taylor by a lovely young woman who obviously grew up with his music via her parents. Great song writer. When I look at musical collaboration between Joni and him on wikipedia etc...little bit disappointed. Apparently if it's not about a love affair with Carly etc it's not really worth mentioning in the human/music relationship way. Nevertheless (my disappointment aside)as a Joni lover, remarkable.(and, hopefully he's not a 'tart')x

May 13, 2012 - All you young ones: I was on the Vineyard in "71. Kate Taylor wanted us for her band for a tour, but her agent, Peter Asher, shut us down. Never got to meet James, but met Livingston. A wonderful musical Summer. Ah, to be young again!

May 18, 2012 - Taylor and Joni did have a romance. She wrote about the romance in one of her albums, . If you read her lyrics she slams him for taking to the spotlight and enjoying his fame and adoration.....she likely split with him. But she sang harmony on many of his later albums. He and Caryl Simon got together later and had kids. She left him because he was a heroin addict! He loved Caryl more than anyone. But he admits his being a junkie and so many of his songs reference the "monkey on his back."

May 22, 2012 - From what I've read and what I know, James battled(s) severe clinical depression as well as being a recovered drug addict. I don't think that's too unusual for those who are as creative and prolific as he is. I loved these songs when I first heard them years ago, during the peak of my life(I'm disabled now) with the first love of my life. I believe that "Blue" is the album referred to as the album on which she wrote about their romance. I always hated that he and Carly didn't make it.

May 26, 2012 - For me, this is one of those songs that no matter who sings it "as long as they can sing, mind you!" they can't mess it up. It's just so beautiful! My all-time favorite JT song! I love this one, the one with Linda R, the one with Carole, and the one with Carly "my fav". The one she did with Ben and Sally from Into White was also haunting! Thank you for saring this!
baylonaj Says:
May 26, 2012 - All of the above. I think the only way to make these songs alive again is to learn to play them or see them played again. I don't think I'll be able to listen to songs like this when the artist is no longer here. I sometimes question the value of listening to recorded music that affects me so emotionally. The same way it hurts to look at photos of lost loved ones. Just the way you look at it. Half full is better. Peace and love.
