Description:
The Complete Billie Holiday on Columbia CD 2Lyrics:Someday when I'm awfully lowWhen the world is coldI will feel a glowJust thinking of youAnd the way you look tonightOh, but you're lovelyWith your smile so warmAnd your cheeks so softThere is nothing for meBut to love youJust the way you look tonightWith each wordYour tenderness growsTearing my fear apartAnd that laughThat wrinkles your noseTouches my foolish heartLovely, never never changeKeep that breathless charmWon't you please arrange itCause I love youJust the way you look tonight

Jan 21, 2012 - I just love how she sings this song. I can't get enough. It's like the melody was written for her voice alone.

Feb 20, 2012 - If you think about it though, there are a lot of people who would agree with that...maybe a change is coming.:)
oniyurisan Says:
Feb 25, 2012 - I have to disagree with you. This generation marks the first in history that yearns for the past instead of the future. The truth is, our future is bleak. We live in a world where everything is given to us, and on the surface that's great, but beneath it we find ourselves unsatisfied. They had their problems, as we have ours today, some worse than others. You can't say those times weren't good at all because, of course, they were.
MMC72899 Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - @oniyurisan, You have a very good point. I mean more of the social issues more than anything else, I should've clarified that. And while our future might be "bleak", I think that currently we have a fairly good society. Yes, there are still a lot of things that need to be changed for the better, but saying the entire generation we have today does not work for what it is given is not the best generalization. Somethings are given to us, some things are worked for.
oniyurisan Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - I think we can both agree that there were issues in both generations. What I really meant regarding being given everything is that, sure we work many hours at our jobs for sometimes measly pay. But I've never had to literally WORK for what I get. If I spend money to have the internet, I have infinite possibilities. I can learn, play, basically discover anything. Most people on this page discovered Billie Holiday right here on youtube! I'm not saying the internet is bad now,
oniyurisan Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - I just feel that it's things like that that make our generation fail to see the luxuries that they have. We have so much that we take for granted, while back then I believe they felt truly lucky to have what they had. However there is no doubt at all that the social issues have changed for the better. I'm glad society has become more and continues to be more accepting of who some of us still regard as 'different people'.
MMC72899 Says:
Feb 27, 2012 - @oniyurisan, I completely agree with that. Well said, friend.

Apr 9, 2012 - And we now have the ability to own good music in so many different formats and from so many different sources. Fifteen years ago I never imagined I could download enough Billie Holiday, for example, to make 2 of my own CD's, FREE OF CHARGE.
ocnoreen Says:
May 10, 2012 - We had music! Real music, not the pap of today. Real musicians and wonderful singers and great songs. Real words, not some crap; I took a nap and woke up to see a frog stuff. I feel sorry for the young today. I have lived through many eras and am glad I was there for the real music.

Jan 19, 2012 - Absolutely sublime! I've never heard a recording of Billie Holliday singing this song. As always, she tells an absorbing story, while also creating an instrumental solos. Thanks for the post.
