MMA H.E.A.T.'s Karyn Bryant talks to Haywire star Channing Tatum and gets the story on the actor's respect for his fighter-turned-actor co-star, Gina Carano. Channing, who starred in an MMA-themed movie called "Fighting," talks about Gina's abilities in the cage, how they translated to the big screen and why he thinks Hollywood needs more of this kind of reality in its action films. He also lets us know what director Steven Soderbergh told him to do before his make-out scene with the much-desired Carano. May 11, 2012 - he's being ridiculous saying gina could beat him

Squidiot Says:

May 12, 2012 - You are a fucking idiot, chef. She's a world class fighter with years of experience in a cage and he's an actor. In a real fight Gina would kick the shit out of him. He knows that. He wasn't kidding when he said it. If you think otherwise you don't know anything about martial arts or fighting or reality. You're just another moron who thinks it's impossible for a woman to beat a man.

Squidiot Says:

May 12, 2012 - @Obsta- Are you really saying that Bruce Lee and Jet and Donnie Yen were professional fighters? They are martial artists. There's a difference. Chuck Norris would be a closer comparison because he was a multiple world champion in his style.Gina's job for years was to fight in a cage for money.

Kingofdaheavyweights Says:

May 14, 2012 - He was specifically talking about MMA fighters not just fighters who knew martial arts, he was spoken for those who proved themselves in the sport of mma.

markgoestothemovies Says:

May 19, 2012 - 30 second commercial before a promo for a movie I only sorta liked. Next!

Xentradi97 Says:

May 19, 2012 - With all do respect for Bruce, Bruce was never a "Real" fighter. He was an excellent martial artist and a legend. Bruce never really competed in tournament fights or open fights or anything like what unlike some who do it for living.

ethan burnett Says:

May 20, 2012 - its been scientifically proven there's no such thing as hitting like a girl! punching is purly techinique the same force output is there

mirrorzedge523 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Uh...how was Bruce not a real fighter? The guy was beyond tournaments. People literally walked up to him and challenged him to street fights, and Bruce would destroy them literally in a matter of seconds. In terms of speed and technique, the guy is unsurpassed to this day. Do you really think you have to fight in a tournament to become a "real" fighter?

Xentradi97 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Stories of Bruce Lee's street fights are mostly unofficial here says. In short, they are largely "Myths". Just like story of his master Ipman fighting and destroying entire group of Japanese Karateka in their dojo. Bruce only trained in Wingchun but all for 3 years. And fighting thugs on street is very different than fighting a professional fighter inside the cage who trains to fight for living. This doesn't take away anything from Bruce. In some ways, Bruce Lee was the father of MMA.

Xentradi97 Says:

May 21, 2012 - He theorized Jeet Kune Do which attempted to combine all arts whatever useful instead of strictly adhering to largely untested and unchallenged traditional styles. He influenced many with his philosophy and his movies. Many MMA fighters and Martial artist today also see him as an inspiration. But he was never a professional fighter. He never faced openly against opponents in no holds bar fights like today's MMA fighters do. It's very different practicing in studios and practicing for fight

mirrorzedge523 Says:

May 21, 2012 - That's where I don't understand you because Bruce Lee has fought in many serious street fights, many of which he won very quickly. This along with high intensity training and the developing of Jeet Kun Do like you mentioned is what he did long before going into acting. So what do you mean by "professional?" Do you mean tournament wise, then not really (although he did win championships in boxing and kung fu in his youth).

mirrorzedge523 Says:

May 21, 2012 - But if you're referring to his calibur as a fighter when you use the term "professional," then Bruce was one of the all time greats. IMO one of the quintessential martial "artists" of the world. BTW, he didn't just theorize the idea of Jeet Kun Do, he had to master many forms of martial arts and study the philosophy of each discipline devoutly before even forming the concept of the Intercepting Fist.

Xentradi97 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Bruce Lee's street fights are not fully substantiated. We do not know exactly who he fought or how trained his opponents were. Much of it has become more of an urban legends passed down orally from person to person who claims to have witnessed it. It's just like Rickson Gracie claiming he has fought over 400 bouts undefeated. Which his own father refutes it by saying he counts his in class practice and amateur fights.

Xentradi97 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Bruce Lee is and was an amazing martial artist no one contests. He has had amazing accomplishments as well. But he was never a real competition fighter. There's a big difference and many Bruce Lee fanboys fail to understand the difference.

mirrorzedge523 Says:

May 21, 2012 - I hear you and trust me I'm not a Bruce Lee fanboy. I'm open to other people's input about Bruce Lee. I just have a problem with some people (not you) who believe that the level of a person's talent is determined by his/her fame or just because he/she participates in and wins tournaments. It's similar to how I feel about mainstream vs. underground rap. Some call Lil Wayne the best rapper because they're too ignorant to research far more talented artists just because they're not well known.

mirrorzedge523 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Yeah that over 400 undefeated matches claim is ridiculous. I just feel that Lee's mastery over several martial art styles, the formation of his own style, and his teachings justify his abilities far more than a tournament trophy ever could. After all, several well known tournament champions have admitted to have been either directly mentored or indirectly influenced by Bruce's abilities and philosophies.

Xentradi97 Says:

May 21, 2012 - I understand and what Bruce has accomplished is truly amazing but he was after all Martial artist who spent most of his time training his mind and body in a MA studio not through a series of combat where he put his body on the line. It's nothing to do with fame as Bruce is far more famous today then any other competition martial artists. Bruce is a martial artist. Guys like Fedor, Bas, Saku, Minataur are "Real Fighters". Not that one is better than another, they just have different goal

Xentradi97 Says:

May 21, 2012 - Am just a bit weary of people who thinks that Bruce was some kind of invincible fighter who could defeat all. It simply wasn't the case. In fact he'd probably get knocked out or choked out if he went up against any top fighters in his weight class inside a cage. But that's not what Bruce was about. Knowledge and Inspiration he gave to people wasn't about his supposed "invincibility", but a quest to realize one self through training in an art that is a self expression.

MrBifocles Says:

May 21, 2012 - Sick ass movie

Ragesmith96 Says:

May 24, 2012 - but in a real life fight he would of killed them.

Xentradi97 Says:

May 24, 2012 - Them who? You also believe he killed all those Japanese Karatekas and all the baddies he faced in movies including Chuck Norris?

Ragesmith96 Says:

May 25, 2012 - No I was reffering to the mma fighters.
