Apr 16, 2012 - You're a fucking idiot. First off, if you live in Canada, then you know how irrelevant driving skill is when you're on sheet ice. Anything but a studded tire is practically useless on sheet ice. The problem here is 20% bad drivers (be more cautious!) and 80% SHITTY road maintenance. The city should be salting this portion of the bridge because this is apparently a HUGE problem.

Don't forget that we have plenty of Northern states that get snow - I'm from Michigan, Michigan drivers can handle snow, southern drivers that are up here in the winter usually have problems.

Apr 17, 2012 - No I don't use winter tires, I use all season tires. My car has traction control. My car is also a front wheel drive. The problem is that most and I do mean most drivers don't know what to do when they lose control. And almost everyone in the above video made the mistake of slamming on their brakes which is the worst thing to do when you lose control. Now if I were in the above video, knowing that it's snowing I know to drive to road conditions.

And when it does snow in Canada crews aren't out until the next day putting sand and salt on all major streets, and then move on to residential areas. Some bridges where I live don't get sand and salt due to the lanes being narrow and sand trucks can't travel there. But drivers here tend to drive through safely.

Apr 29, 2012 - I had one of those on I-65 through Louisville....temps were cooling South to North unbeknownst to me...elevated highway....Ford E150 Cargo Van...almost pulled it out...hit the wall hard...it didn't set off airbag because the bumper on the left side took the impact because I almost pulled it out....it did however cause the fuel shutoff switch to engage...once reset, I was able to limp home.....that may have been what happened to guy they interviewed....car looked fine to me..

I have one and I have to leave early and really take my time mine actually is good on icy roads I go slow so it dosent fish tail and leaving early gives me plenty time to get where I'm going. Sometimes I slip a little but not much.
