Apr 12, 2012 - No, she's not an idiot. Yes, children are being taught to care for those who don't have as much as they do, which is good. The problem is that they are being taught this by being told that inequality at whatever level is wrong. If this becomes a law (judicial law or social pressure) they are going to realise that making an effort to improve their lives isn't going to result in anything else than envy and destruction from their surroundings. Even if they are nice or helpful to others.

Most of the pablum (sit-coms etc.) that United Statesians are watching are full of xenophobic messages to make them feel good about their country. No positive messages about the world, just about them. Rome is burning, and if United Statesians don't start reading and smarten up soon, it will be bad for us all... that is the saddest part of it. If I get reactionary responses rather than smart ones to this, it proves my point.

Schools today spend too much time on social "indoctrination" and little on actual, real world training.
