When Johnny Carson was leaving, he had intended Letterman to host the Tonight Show, but Jay went around him, and took it away from Letterman. Then, in 2010, he screws over Conan, when Conan was the host of the Tonight Show, by squeezing him out. To be fair, half of the blame for both cases lies with the NBC network executives, as well. That's the very light version.
