DecaPierce Says:

Feb 25, 2011 - what rear tire size do they use? its a pain to find cheap 17 inch rubber

Quagmire88 Says:

Mar 30, 2011 - ok so it can ride in multiple environment. But how hard is it to ride in full gear??

nosparkplugs1 Says:

Mar 30, 2011 - This bike was designed back in 1994 by the engineers at Royal Enfield. Now 17 years of development later it still only produces 25 hp and is a dog. The bike project was just a hobby for Hayes, who is nothing but a shade tree mechanic with no real knowledge of engine design.I was part of a Marine Corp investigation team looking into why HDT could not deliver on their 500 bike contract, it was canceled after just 200 bikes were delivered and many problems were found. Now HDT is long gone.

Mar 30, 2011 - lol if they want motorcycles they should just get drz's or klr's

zacish Says:

Mar 30, 2011 - Which means they need to take petrol out to war zones as well as diesel

tolikechicken Says:

Mar 31, 2011 - actually they modify the engines to run on diesel

nosparkplugs1 Says:

Mar 31, 2011 - Sorry to inform you heloderm310 but Hayes DT is in fact gone, nice new website but nobody home. Building is now empty and up for rent and all employees laid off, (me included).Royal Enfield took a '94 KLR 650, bored the head and installed an indirect injection prechamber from a 1980 Mercedes 300D, and that is pretty much what they have today with the exception of making thicker case castings to support the huge flywheel.

nosparkplugs1 Says:

Mar 31, 2011 - Yes, the suspension was pretty bad when this video was taken. A whole new rear suspension / shock set up was designed by the guys at F1 Engineering in Los Angeles to take into account the extra weight of the diesel engine and the expected payload. This transformed the bike and made it much easier to ride.F1 Engineering also designed and produced most of the components of the engine, and I guess Hayes DT managed to screw them as well.

spacerconrad Says:

Dec 9, 2011 - Seems like, just about every time we get a handle on tech improvements, outfits like the EPA step in and hang a bunch of sandbags on our balloon. Otherwise, many of us would be scrambling for smaller diesel vehicles.

clarkiiboii09 Says:

Dec 22, 2011 - Gay Marine Corps. The UK forces use the Harley Davidson, so much better!

trident1702 Says:

Jan 31, 2012 - you would of thought watching the vid, the took credit for the whole bike:S for shame, Kawasaki wasn't mentioned once

whaler287 Says:

Feb 2, 2012 - yup, I guess that's why HDT went abroad to get the Diesel KLR built and probably a lot more affordable too. Google -- Altius Scimitar. Price: (Ex-showroom, India) - approx. US$3360 to $3920

MikeOBrien6640 Says:

Mar 1, 2012 - i agree that we will most likely never see those here in the states, that is why i decided to build my own... :{)

Cube210 Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - Except they aren't made by Harley. Harely just bought the contract. so harely gets paid, but the same old company makes them.Pretty much just take any dirtbike and slap a H-D sticker on it.
