(813) 864-1536 mstewart@childrenshome.org AIM HIGH WITH GENERAL H. NORMAN SCHWARZKOPF FOR THE CHILDREN'S HOME AT THE 16TH ANNUAL SPORTING CLAYS CLASSICLand O' Lakes, FL -- May 22, 2010 This year marks the 16th Annual Sporting Clays Classic to benefit The Children's Home. We invite you to join honorary chairman, General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, on Saturday, May 22nd at Tampa's newest upscale Sporting Clays facility, Tampa Bay Sporting Clays.Known as one of the premier shooting events of it's kind and the largest in the State of Florida, all participants will enjoy a delicious breakfast, complimentary ammunition from Remington Arms Company, a full round of clays, lunch and an awards ceremony. Shooters can also participate in the infamous card draw, where they can win fabulous prizes including shotguns, vacations, airline tickets and more.New to this year's event, is the GNAT. This hugely popular shooting experience has been brought all the way from the U.K. by Verizon for a special limited engagement associated with this event. GNAT offers a new and exciting challenge for shooting enthusiasts with a target like no other, a radio controlled aircraft, capable of speeds up to 80 mph. It zips by, shows a flash of its belly and pulls up into a steep climb. With each hit, it sets off a pyrotechnic charge, a puff of smoke and keeps flying. Space is limited. GNAT will be offered Saturday, May 22nd for event participants only and Sunday May 23rd for the general public. The cost to shoot the GNAT is $25 per shooter, which includes 5 passes and ammunition. Gun collectors will also have the opportunity this year to bid on a General H. Norman Schwarzkopf 12 gauge s/s signature shotgun, exclusively produced by Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company for The Children's Home. This shotgun is sure to be a collector's item featuring the General's signature and four stars inlaid in gold. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the gun will benefit the organization. Bidding is currently underway through May 14th at www.gunsinternational.com.Thanks to the hard work of the volunteer planning committee and the contributions of loyal participants, this event raises much needed funds that help The Children's Home provide life changing services to over 8,000 children and adults in the Tampa bay area every year. The Children's Home was founded in 1892, and is considered the oldest charity on Florida's West Coast. Through a nationally recognized and accredited Residential Treatment Program, they will help over 120 children each year heal from the trauma of their abuse and neglect. In addition, they help children find and support forever families through the recruitment, training and support of foster, adoptive and kinship families in the community. The Children's Home also strengthens families through a number of initiatives and community programs, including Charlie's Treasures Thrift Store and Family Support Centers throughout the Tampa Bay area that help prevent the cycle of abuse before it starts. To learn more about The Children's Home and the Sporting Clays Classic, or to register for the event, please visit www.childrenshome.org. Apr 9, 2011 - "Gotta be goin' 50 mph"; LOL quail can accelerate to 60 mph in a short distance, skeet doubles have gotta be more of a challenge, but i love the idea of shooting airplanes (it's just illegal where i live) Ha! One question: where can i buy one of those "indestructable" planes for my 6 year old son; he can break anything!

Jun 14, 2011 - Most shootes do not lead it enough. Clays decelerate shortly after launch. These plans maintain speed as they pass.
