Title: Java Game

Added: Mar 27, 2007

Author: Seoryn

Duration: 2:6

Description:
I call it JavaWars. Kindof like a clone for geometry wars, only in java. Please pardon the quality as I could not find any screen recording software that worked well on my computer. I used a camera instead.Source Code can be found here:http://teome200.googlepages.com/java

Dec 19, 2008 - This game has a lot of great detail. I like how you implemented the code to keep the frame rate consistant.there will always be a place for 2d games!great job!

Jan 21, 2009 - Looking very nice! Good job!

Jan 21, 2009 - Thats great framerate and detail I also love the physics of the particles how they keep moving depening on where they were fired from thats great, hey I have a question :T I've been with C++ for about 3 months now and ive got a grasp on it but i want to start making browser games should i switch to Java? and if I do can you point me in the right direction to some internet tutorials and a compiler?

gsk8er3000 Says:

Jan 25, 2009 - damn nice job

Jan 28, 2009 - Well if you want to make browser games, flash might be a good choice (I know absolutely nothing about it though). Java is similar to c++ in a lot of ways so maybe you'd prefer that. The java jdk is available at sun's website, and the documentation is really extensive as well there (im more than certain they have at least a million tutorials on how to create applets). if you're looking for an IDE i recommend JCreator. Eclipse is nice too though.

Feb 7, 2009 - Damn that's cool...this is my first year programming, but I learn at a pretty decent rate. Would you mind pointing me in some direction towards beginning animation and or a simple explanation on how it works?

Rowdyiscool Says:

Feb 16, 2009 - He actually doesn't use any animation for this game, it's mostly moving images, basic collision detecting, and the particles are rendered in real-time.But animation is basically displaying an array of images that are slightly different every frame. Hoped that helped!

Seoryn Says:

Mar 4, 2009 - well I didn't use any enums in my program, if you could tell me more specifically what the exact error is and on what line in which file it occurs, I could be of more help. It would probably be easier to just start using jcreator (or command line or eclipse or whatever) instead though, as bluej is more of a teaching platform than a fully fledged ide

Apr 6, 2009 - Hi,Do you know a good tutorial for making lasers shoot in a specific angle?

Seoryn Says:

Apr 15, 2009 - I would recommend learning some vector math, check the wikipedia page on vectors

Aug 24, 2010 - COOOL.....................

armyvisual Says:

Oct 5, 2010 - Nice particle effects. Reminds me of bullet storm or geometry wars. Awesome! I've thought about doing a flash game similar to this, though the VM can't handle so many particle objects without intense optimization.

MrCoolUS Says:

Dec 4, 2010 - Love the particle effects, looks really cool. Great job with this.

PontusIV Says:

Dec 5, 2010 - wow..... and, get a screen recorder

Mar 19, 2012 - That looks awesome, but how did you make you game an executable file?

retromelon123 Says:

May 6, 2012 - wow.. that is so beautiful...... how did you get the explosion particles emitted from the enemies draw at different lengths dependant on their speeds?... like, how did youget them to leave a trail? :)
