Apr 13, 2012 - Exactly! That basic beat that Meg creates provides Jack so much room to be intricate and experiment with his voice and his guitar (And, other instruments). Meg's simplicity is her creativity, if you see where I'm coming from. I can't imagine the stripes with intricate drumming, it just wouldn't work...it's just their trademark and a lot of musicians don't have that uniqueness. Sometimes less is more and some people can't grasp that! It just gives the listeners that definite beat to groove to.

Apr 14, 2012 - Very true. To be a memorable musician, you need to do something that no one has ever done before or that no one can do but you, and they proved that for sure. What's great about garage rock is the experimentation involved to get a completely different sound. I feel sad that Meg was constantly disheartened by critics of her drumming ability, she should be proud for being one half of one of the most awesome bands out there. They will be remembered for a very long time for their contribution.

Apr 17, 2012 - musics never been about technical ability. if it is, then its not music. at least not music for the sake of music. Meg was a drummer that suited her band, shes as important as Jack, if anything i'd go as far as to say she personified the White Stripes, her stripped-down minimal playing style was symbolic of garage rock and perfectly complimented the guitar. thats just my thought anyway, i hate when people rip on her too.

Apr 17, 2012 - Exactly. The most 'technically capable' thing to create music is a computer, but where's the heart in that? Where's the experimentation and the quirks that make it unique? The human qualities and imperfections are what shines through and makes it music. I love how Meg looks like a little girl banging on her favorite toy and the fact that Jack saw the beauty in that and made it a defining feature of the band.

May 1, 2012 - One thing you have to credit Jack White with, his music is completely original and sounds like no other. Thats why when he comes up with stuff like Catch Hell Blues and Seven Nation Army it blows you away. Love the originality.
