Oct 13, 2011 - Wiki says that Ian & Sylvia kinda, sorta, let themselves be arm-twisted into marriage when they were a partnership in the sixties. It didn't last, and they divorced in 1975.Jaysus! Ian sounds like the best of Elvis crossed with Johnny Cash. I know he was friends with Johnny...

Oct 14, 2011 - It's kinda sad that Ian NEVER looks at Sylvia throughout the performance of this song. She looks at him, but he doesn't look at her.
skooterbud05 Says:
Oct 28, 2011 - Yes he does, he looks at her numberous times. But when she touches his shoulder at the 4:17 mark he glances at her with a look "what the hell was that all about and don't do it again".
hkjazzable Says:
Nov 2, 2011 - I don't think so. Well he was playing the guitar and he had to face the microphone. He could not turn his face away from the mic. Sylvia held a microphone and so she could move around and looked at him. Sylvia touched his shoulder to signal him to end the song and he did.

Nov 7, 2011 - When he's dead, Ian Tyson will still have a better voice than the poseurs today who think they're singers

Nov 28, 2011 - I've been reading Ian Tysons book. Its great, hes quite a character, and not a simple cowboy at all.
OgreProgrammer Says:
Dec 1, 2011 - Thats not true. at 0:30 Ian Tyson looks and smiles at her.

Dec 17, 2011 - I have loved the music of Ian and Sylvia since I was a freshman in college in 1962. The most melodic voices ever.

Jan 1, 2012 - I feel exactly the same... and yet, I'm French... No language barrier here, only the purest music and most touching melody...

Feb 23, 2012 - There are a thousand or so covers of this song, both professional and amateur, here on YouTube. But no one...no one! does it better than Ian. Sadly that includes me, but that hasn't stopped me from singing it for 40 years or so now. I noticed no one commented on those who came out to help finish the song on stage. Emmy Lou Harris, Gordon Lightfoot and Judy Collins. Amazing!

Apr 16, 2012 - I remember the first time I came across this on You Tube. I was wasting time at work listening to stuff. I didn't know Ian actually wrote it and I was expecting him to fail to meet the required (Neil Young) standard. I remember sitting there listening and taking it all in and just thinking OMG, this guy has absolutely nailed it. This is to my way of thinking, the most perfect version of the song that I've heard. It always makes me tear-up. Ian and Sylvia, thank you so much.
Boutiquez Says:
Apr 16, 2012 - Not so. Have a look at 1.57 and 2.01 etc. These two have shared some stuff that's for sure.
