Max5941 Says:

May 20, 2012 - Letterman used to be funny...that was years ago when he kept his far left political views to himself...Letterman always said he was a dumb guy and we always thought that was just part of his act. But it is painfully clear everytime he goes on one of his left wing rants- which is almost every show- that he really is a dumb guy. He used to be funny, now he's just far to political

boltentoke Says:

May 21, 2012 - This is obviously a joke, whether it was Jaoquin's idea or the network's, who knows. My guess is the interview was arranged, the network came up with this idea and asked Jaoquin about it, likely offering more money (they always get paid to do an interview) and he said yes.

caseyisms Says:

May 21, 2012 - You have to see the mocj doc "I'm still here"

ivegotamnesia Says:

May 21, 2012 - Not at all, look at Joaquin's return interview. He actually explains his behavior.

boltentoke Says:

May 21, 2012 - Ah, i see. I was still pretty close.

krug001 Says:

May 22, 2012 - I used to like Letterman before i saw this. How sad has today's society become when a show exploits and laughs at a drug addict who had a great talent and has lost his way in life. Shame! A delicate touch with a dash of empathy could have developed into a much deeper and insightful interview, with some laughs added as well. Forget that he's famous, forget that he's an addict. He's a man and deserves as much respect as you or I.

opin92 Says:

May 22, 2012 - haha joaquin is acting in this interview... check his return visit to the show

CoozyMcMillan Says:

May 24, 2012 - This wasn't a hoax. He was drugged out, has a huge ego, nobody told him that it was a bad idea because of his ego, and he just said it was a hoax because he made such an epic fool of himself that it was actually more believable. Why did he actually change his name to Joaquin Phoenix years before all this? Who would change their last name to "Phoenix" without a huge ego? Why was his level of 'acting' in "I'm Still Here" so above all of his other movies? And what movies has he been in since this?

ETSSheep Says:

May 24, 2012 - Are you stupid? He changed his name from Joaquin to Leaf to fit in with his brother River and sister Rain. His birth name is Joaquin, their families last name is Phoenix. And he is an incredible actor, regardless of how much of this was an act or not.

Dport767676 Says:

May 24, 2012 - He almost broke character at the end..."He's funny, you're funny, he's a funny dude."

CoozyMcMillan Says:

May 25, 2012 - I assumed his own movie "I'm Still Here" was accurate, where someone claims he changed his name. Turns out his birth name was Joaquin Rafael Bottom, but his family adopted the surname "Phoenix" later. So I was wrong to attribute that to his big ego. Still, if you see I'm Still Here, everything else I mentioned is accurate: this wasn't a hoax, he has a huge ego, he was actually drugged out, and he really did epically embarrass himself and then claim it was an act. Please see the documentary.

Eyenstyne15 Says:

May 25, 2012 - If you believe that the documentary "I'm Still Here" was real....anyway, Letterman had no idea it was a hoax until the very end when Phoenix "breaks the fourth wall". It was confirmed by both of them in an interview.

ETSSheep Says:

May 25, 2012 - I've seen the mockumentary.

Reporter40 Says:

May 25, 2012 - Bizarre Interview? Best and funniest ever! Also kudos for Letterman for not depending too much on those script makers and whatnot. He moved on by his own strength. Good good scene this!

CoozyMcMillan Says:

May 25, 2012 - In which he says several times in a row that he wants to sniff some escort's butthole. I'm sure that was all part of his genius act.

rmr355 Says:

May 26, 2012 - what do you have them on????????? best part.

GiantSandles Says:

May 26, 2012 - This is way easier to watch knowing that Phoenix was acting, lol
