Feb 1, 2011 - if pitchers could have a running start and crow hop in baseball they would be throwing 100 mph on average instead of 95.

fanofyoubulb Says:

Apollo13143 Says:

Mar 28, 2011 - Yeah may be, but in Cricket the bowlers (pitchers) should not bend their elbow while pitching, the forward ball motion should only be due rotation at the shoulder and not due to any motion at the arm elbow.

Mar 29, 2011 - Stupid Americans comparing cricket with baseball wen its nowhere near enuff

WorldChallenge Says:

Apr 3, 2011 - Does the ball have to hit the ground or is that just the way it's bowled?

SANAUL1988 Says:

Apr 11, 2011 - its just bowlrd tat way

SANAUL1988 Says:

Apr 11, 2011 - its just bowlrd tat wayits just to get him out man by either swinging it or seaming it or spining it

lookyew Says:

Apr 23, 2011 - But the difference is, you see, cricket bowlers MUST keep their arm straight whilst bowling; It's a 'windmill' style action. Try it for yourself and you'll find it's impossible to generate real pace on the ball. This is why a run up is needed. Baseball pitchers, as you know, are able to generate pace by bending the arm and throwing the ball. This action would be illegal in cricket.

May 21, 2011 - what a fucking queer sport

wierdwesterner Says:

May 22, 2011 - No, it doesn't have to bounce. As long as it is below waist height when it reaches the batter OR it has bounced just once and it is within reach of the batter.... i.e. not bouncing way over the batter's head or way to either side.

wierdwesterner Says:

May 22, 2011 - It's so queer, it spawned baseball. Go figure.

nights1900 Says:

Jun 1, 2011 - So kids of USA, this was the first lecture on Cricket!

ludocrat Says:

Jun 30, 2011 - In the late 80s a professional Aussie left arm spinner played for my club in England for a season (which was cool!). He used to get frustrated with the standard of umpiring in the league though. One game, he went up for a stone cold LBW and got turned down. Tired of this, when he hit the pads next ball (he was a great bowler) and yelled very loudly: "Howthefuckwasthatone!" Shocked, the umpire triggered the guy. Marvellous appeal, that.

aussiefox Says:

Jun 30, 2011 - technically as long as it's below the waist without bouncing it's a legal ball, however most good players can hit that type of ball (called a full toss ) very easily. so it's best to bounce it , as you can use the seam to get movement both ways as well as high bounce.

muhandiram88 Says:

Jul 2, 2011 - what suitable for Americans is t20.internationals. it's short and fun. the ground should not be much long or short. there should be maximum oppotunities for fans to enjoy the match. in sri lanka t20 match is more like a party. it is better if american cricket board can arrange a premier league like indian premier league or sri lankan premier league

SiestaBay239 Says:

Jul 23, 2011 - cricket is cool. so is baseball

texasbariatric Says:

Nov 24, 2011 - Cricket is such an interesting sport to watch. Bowling well is a lot harder than it looks.

sharpspow Says:

Mar 19, 2012 - So how about that soccer?

mohammadraza14 Says:

Apr 27, 2012 - All right guys just clear up some confusions about bowling vs pitching. The statement that you are not allowed to bend your arm while bowling is completely false. The ICC ruling is that your are not allpwed to straighten your arm by more than 15 degrees. Thats why the sling action is illegal. When a pitcher realses the ball his elbow usually straighten all the way. In cricket that would be consodered throwing or chucking

aussiefox Says:

Apr 28, 2012 - Trying to explain the subtle difference in the ICC rules and the MCC laws of Cricket is beyond the scope of what these introductory videos are meant to do. The merits of the 15 degree angle and whether a bowling action is legal or not should be kept to a more theoretical discussion board on cricket then here. He we are just sharing the most very basic details of the game, lets keep it at that. If you would like to talk more in depth i would be willing to do so via private message.

mohammadraza14 Says:

Apr 28, 2012 - I agree, but people should know that ARE allowed to have a bent arm, as most spinners do, but its the release thats the basic difference between bowling vs pitching. Not how the action starts, but where it ends up
