Title: Superplexus Circles, 24" (1st Circles commission)
Added: Feb 27, 2010
Author: SuperplexusDotCom
Duration: 3:30
Description:
Here is a demonstration of SUPERPLEXUS CIRCLES, a 24" diameter commission for a private collector. Playtime is about an hour for a player to get to the end, if you don't fall off! CIRCLES is meant to be challenging, though doable. It was my second private commission and was lots of fun to make from birch aircraft plywood, acrylic, Jatoba, and stainless steel. Filmed and edited by Angelica Tercero.

May 12, 2012 - What is your build process for something like this? Do you spend a lot of time in design stages planning everything out or do you know what general shape you need for it to be balanced and go from there? What woodworking level do you think you would need to build a basic one? It looks like fun, but a ton of work. Keep it up. I have Perplexus Epic. I played it for several months but still haven't beaten the dang thing in one shot.

May 24, 2012 - What about low pressure air (like air hockey) or a flowing water base (like the giant stone marbles they make that rotate with just a tiny push)? Just thinking out loud. Amazing work, thanks for sharing!

May 5, 2012 - How about a stand that has a positive air pressure that simulate the sphere sitting on air bearings. Maybe use a nylon gasket with enough pressure to relive the friction.
