This is a video that I am sending Ocean Kayak of defective scupper holes on my Scrambler XT Angler Edition. Hopefully they will agree with me that it is a manufaturer's defect and do the right thing.

Feb 26, 2010 - I sent them this video in an email and they said they want to send me a welding rod. I have receieved the rod and fixed the kayak myself. I don't think that is the point. I think that they should stand by there product. My next kayak will probably be of another make.

Mar 5, 2010 - They sent me a "welding rod" which is an 1/8" round strip of the same yellow plastic that the kayak is made of. I heated it up with a heat gun and then the area and I "welded some more material to that area and smoothed it out with some metal round stock. It was pretty simple to do and you really cannot tell at all that anything had occured. It does not leak anymore. I should have taken a video of the repair. Thanks for looking.

Jul 20, 2010 - Appreciate this video, but would appreciate it much more if you showed us a video when you fixed it:)!!!!!!!!!! lol....But, I'm REALLY glad it worked for you!!! Did you use a regular heat gun they use in automotive???

Feb 28, 2011 - This is a video that I did so that I could link it to Ocean Kayak. They sent out a "welding rod" which I was able to do the repairs myself using a heat gun. I can walk you through the process of welding if you wish.

Jan 1, 2012 - Name one manufacturer of any product that hasn't had a blem Zero. Nadda. None. Ocean kayak still 1. Stick by them.

Feb 24, 2010 - Like you said, talk to OK to see if they make it right. You can also check where you bought it and maybe return it. If that doesn't work, then apply some marine silicone or Goop to the inside on the scupper walls. Apply a healthy coat and let it cure before taking it to the water. Good luck.
