The government set up by Bush/Cheney, Haliburton got all the money. The people invested in houses because interest rates were historically low, and this was perceived as a great investment...People got caught up into the flipping phase.

Jan 18, 2012 - Yes you are correct about the government wasting money on the war overseas but domestically they did worse!People In America were investing in housing on the assumption that their property values were going to continually appreciate, regardless if they could afford it or not as the US Govt downgraded the risk in the loans as they were guaranteeing the loans to the banks. The US wasted more money in bailing out the banking sector than it did in funding wars.
