May 8, 2012 - you should know you are very wrong saying that if a song can make it on charts it means that is not worth of listen,because the mainstream music is often the one that makes the charts..and in fact you can see that this song which charted only at nº20 in usa is technically acording to the more dificult vocals,the better lyrics and the orginal arrangements far better than take on me wich was nº1 so you are wrong..and also the american chart is not the only one that matter,and a-ha has many more

May 8, 2012 - hits around the world..but again,some shitty songs(as "touchy") entered the charts while others like "scoundrel days" not,and in this case is the same story..scoundrel has far more original lyrics and highly dificult vocals than the commercial song than was in the charts..and that you think erasure is better will always be just your opinion,i dont care if you like it or not..the taste of someone in music will never be something objetive!

May 8, 2012 - the only true thing you said is that some bands do have only good songs as singles and in the charts but,on the opposite of what you think about this case..a-ha is one of the most important exceptions..so i highly recomend you to check the songs that you dont know from them..how can you be sure about something you haven't seen yet..

May 9, 2012 - look ,"sad" songs generally are bad because is very hard to make a good "sad" song is much easier to make "happy" songs, im not saying this is a bad song, I think this is a good one, still I think erasure is better than a-ha , why? because erasure has more energy, force, beat, rithm, sintetizers , lirycs ( wheter u doubt it) , passion, they´re more bold, innovative, genuine, these things I´m saying maybe you wont fully understand becuase ur a very conservative person.

May 10, 2012 - But what makes 80's music special is that they actually played instruments to get those sounds. It's not like today that you use a computer to get all the generic sounds. About singing, Morket Harket(the vocalist), his voiced was not auto tuned to get him to sing like that. He is that good. So I wouldn't say 80's pop was crap, and about auto tuned to hell, that is what most music is today :(
