Jan 18, 2012 - Those 10 won't find their humor with a map. That generation of comics used timing you rarely see today. Benny would get a laugh with just a pause.
TheShirEl Says:
Jan 20, 2012 - Brooks kept referring to to Lucille's "cocoon" - African Americans were sometimes called "coons" (probably from raccoon) in parts of the Southern US prior to the 1970's.

Feb 5, 2012 - In a 1767 musical, a black character named Raccoon sang an early version of Yankee Doodle Dandy. From this it became coon and so called coon songs performed by blacked face whites were popular in the 19th century. Afro Americans not allowed on the stage at the time.

Feb 14, 2012 - sometimes i can't listen to this guy. my stomach hurts soooo much from laughing so hard I have to push pause. I so miss all these people at that table. those were the good days seeing them on TV. funny funny ad-lib stuff. Foster Brooks is a riot ! seemed like the older he got the funnier he got. great bunch of celebs..

Feb 15, 2012 - Those were the days of true celebrities who were held in high regard and that we could enjoy and not worry about obscenities being verbalised to get a laugh. Most are gone now sadly, with the exception of a few namely Don Rickles and Rich Little but the magic that Dino made possible on his show unfortunately may never be repeated.
avalanche344 Says:
Feb 16, 2012 - Just unbelievable talent HILARIOUS. These comedians/entertainers were to hollywood and television what groups like the Beatles were to music. What we have today pales (sadly) in comparison.

Mar 29, 2012 - Thank God for YouTube. I was a teenager when these were on, but sadly I was too young to appreciate them.

Apr 8, 2012 - Back in the 70's when these roasts were taking place, I was smoking pot and drinking and chasing girls. But I always made it back home to watch the Dean Martin Roasts. They were and are still some of the best comedy ever filmed. (And never a cuss word out of their mouth. Geez, what happened America?) I miss them all dearly. RIP
