Don't agree with what the guy did to get himself into trouble, but at least he's very creative in trying to get out of it. he should have never contacted ATC. Set the plane on auto at 5,000 rather than 2,000 ft, let it hit the ocean and he'd be fine and no one would know any different. they'd have a funueral for him and he'd be free and clear. Hope it turns out ok and he's not dead.

He told the police that he was involved in a boating accident, which is why he was soaked waist down, then they gave him a lift to a storage unit THAT HE RENTED THE DAY BEFORE, no you are right this wasn't planned, he certainly didn't try to make people think he died in a plane crash.
