May 2, 2012 - Not to age myself, but I was in high school when I listened and savored them, the Bunnymen, Psych Furs and others thanks to my older siblings and KPFK (Berkeley) and KITS (SF) then later KROQ (in LA). Just lucky timing as well as being manic to know music. Moz is here in Japan now. Not catching any of his shows, but happy with catching him for his first few tours of LA in the 90's. He is a bona fide icon.

I don't know about anyone else but I found that The Clash tell the truth about the way the world is and The Smiths tell the truth about the way people are. I like to think this gives me an advantage over people who listen to awful chart music. Haha!

May 16, 2012 - Discovering a great song in a movie is just like sitting by a shore, enjoying the beauty in front of you, and suddenly the next wave that rocks your feet brings with it a beautiful tiny pearl. Almost half of the songs I love have come to me through movies. Just like this movie introduced me to The Smiths, there have been many more rendezvous like Simon & Garfunkel- The Graduate, Frou Frou- Garden State, Dropkick Murphys- The Departed.....and many more.......I hope it never ends.

May 21, 2012 - The stock market crashed in 1987, about the same time that the adminstration decided to do away with each campus in the Tarrant County Junior College system having its own individual newspaper. The Smiths had broken up around this time period. We'll always have the music. Thank you Johnny and Steven.

I really hated this movie because of how real this crap is but in the end I guess its part of something everybody must go through sometime.
