He had 3rd pair heads up out of position, people bet the flop if bluffing in position and check with a hand or nothing, he checked called the turn and fired the river, a bluff woulda bet the flop not called the turn unless he was floating 3 streets and the way it was played that was unlikely.

Apr 15, 2012 - i see lots of bad play on the turn, and its usually play that is too passive. a check, a call and a fire at the river. that is a very passive line for the best hand. kinda confused as to why ivey flatted the turn, the chances of flopping trips are low and calling a raise with a 5 is marginal. ace 5 or 6 5 is the only two i think could be calling raises. as for dennis, why did he check call river? its a silly way to pay off ivey, but ivey could have played a more aggressive line

Apr 26, 2012 - i think they both played the hand well. ivey checked the flop b/c he knows dennis is the type of player that would only call his preflop raise with a mid pair or KQ suited/ AK off or a middle pair. he checks for deception/to be cautious. dennis bets the turn b/c ivey checked flop, in case if ivey has something like QJ suited to keep him from seeing a free river. he decided to check call the river because a player like ivey will float the turn a lot especially against a player like dennis.
