Feb 27, 2011 - Perhaps, but borrowing a thing or two from it like Schilt does has it's advantages. Notice the kick that forced the 3rd down? That's borrowed from Kyokushin. Quite handy if your opponent has a high guard, and therefore an opening at waist height. Toss it single, or combined with a few punches. Most kickboxers aren't used to it, and will have to adapt to blocking it.Just get your toes out of there before he lowers his block and your toes meet his elbow, I can tell you. ;-)

Jul 20, 2011 - They're both dutch kickboxers/thaiboksers (which is mostly based on mt). Badr is closer to mt though. Most of the first dutch mt fighters came from a kyokushin background, so a lot of it got adopted in the fighting system. The punching is different from mt too.

Jan 26, 2012 - Kyokushin is not muay thai..the master adopted techniques from muay thai so they can defeat the muat thai champs back in the day when they dominated...k1 is also founded from a ex kyokushin fighter
