May 10, 2012 - No, not really, because Billy Vaughn was in Glasgow, Kentucky prior to the war and he joined the U.S. National Guard and was then sent overseas. He was not yet a famous bandleader. He achieved fame with The Hilltoppers in the early 1950's before striking out on his own career as a bandleader, composer and musician.
