Apr 19, 2012 - indeed. some inward searching perhaps? i hope he and levon had a real opening of hearts and minds when robbie went to visit him on his death bed.

MsRanger02 Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - i think he is slightly off here with the line no one came back they did come back he never did

blachubear Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - Cool out folks. According to Levon's wife, Robbie & Levon made peace days before Levon took the turn for the worst. So if those two can forgive, so can we. Let Levon rest in peace.

sggraham64 Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - Native Canadians in this case

officialjbbeverley Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - Glad to know that Robbie Robertson made peace with Levon Helm before he passed away.

headlessdan Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - Fuck Robbie

DUFFDADDY100 Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - sounds the same but his face is fucked up i dont think he can grow hair

kootnikoff Says:

Apr 21, 2012 - He's not Native American - he's Canadian...

davidfmmacd Says:

Apr 21, 2012 - I keep on expecting Robbie to fake catching a fly.Everyone read "Wheel's on Fire" for a dissenting view.

starlatina1 Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - Robbie was not the reason or the caused why " The Band " broke up.....

dawgdan1 Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - Humble as always Robbie.

1foofighter606 Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - The Band played together without him until Danko's death. Robbie must be trying to save face by neglecting that.

AtekMan Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - The Robbie haters who troll him all over YouTube are so contrary. One minute they are going on about how he stole the show (and songs) when he was with the band and next they are castigating him for deserting the Band and blaming him for their declining careers. If he was so awful and overrated surely him leaving should have been the best thing that could have happened to the group? You can't have it both ways folks.

jeffdachef Says:

Apr 28, 2012 - That is so good to hear...brought a tear to my eye! They were individually good to great musicians, but together they were "the BAND"...

MrShmeeboy Says:

Apr 30, 2012 - Robbie's comments are disingenuous here, or in denial...or delusional.

3chrds Says:

May 1, 2012 - hard to break through the mental blocks until something tragic happens, i guess. it sucks, hope i can make peace with everyone in my life before its too late. easier said than done though. cheers to you!

62dcoutlaw Says:

May 1, 2012 - Having read that novel, there definitely is an alternate view point. But, I will say the truth has to be somewhere in the middle. Too many contradictions with Levon's version. Too many inaccuracies in this interview itself. As one person said above, The Band did play on without Robertson. How does he not know this?????

MrSteeles912 Says:

May 2, 2012 - So if the intent was to do some solo work and then join back up as "The Band", then why call the concert The Last Waltz?

tjrieves Says:

May 4, 2012 - It was supposed to be the last concert, not the last album they made.

Lazydawg58 Says:

May 19, 2012 - It seems to me that Robbie, looking long term, knew that the power was in the control of the product. He formed a mutually benficial aliance with the suits and squeezed the other members out. Levon was the only one that could see what was happening and was strong willed enough to try and do something about it. In a tug of war the pencil pushers win. Robbie looked after himself at the expense of Garth, Ricky, Levon, and Richard. The music was created as an ensemble.

fatgrl1935 Says:

May 24, 2012 - Robbie is not blamed for their declining careers; that is simply the passage of time. Those who loved the Band still loved them thru the years. What Robbie is blamed for is the loss of royalties from his claims of songs being written by him and only him, because nothing could be further from the truth. Robbie was a child when he joined the rest in Hawkins band, and was a city dweller to boot. All the songs written and the experiences they materialized from, were lives by

fatgrl1935 Says:

May 24, 2012 - farmboys Rick Danko and Levon Helm, and Richard Manuel, born in rural Simcoe Ontario, son of a mechanic and a schoolteacher. Those songs were mostly definitely written together, and Robbie knew it. Robbie lived quite a comfortable life on those songwriting royaties, while the others struggled financially. Some say it contributed to Richard's alcoholism, depression and suicide. RR did not do well by his brothers, and their resentment is justified, IMO.

fatgrl1935 Says:

May 24, 2012 - CORRECTION: All the songs written and the experiences they materialized from were LIVED by...

fatgrl1935 Says:

May 24, 2012 - No shit...total disrespect.

W2n1dowsx Says:

May 25, 2012 - I think everyone don't know what the hell their talking about. A musical group is a very difficult thing to keep together and NO ONE is ever faultless when it dissolves. The truth is Robertson's peculiar genius is evident in the songs and no one (including him) ever evidenced quite the same level of creativity that was there when the band was together. I saw them play Merriweather Post Pavilion around 1970 and I had seen everyone practically who was touring around that time. They were superior.
